About Rear Derailleurs
Various derailleur systems were designed and built as far back as the late 1800s. A French bicycle tourist, writer and cycling promoter Paul De Vivie (1853-1930), invented a two speed rear derailleur in 1905 which he used on forays into the Alps, and we wonder if 20 gears are enough..... Since then there have been many advancements, in the number of gears, materials and reductions in weight. Wiggle lists a large selection of front and rear derailleurs catering for double and triple systems with 7, 8, 9, 10 and even 11 speed cassettes.

Product Q & A
Ask your questions and share your answers.
Am I likely to need a longer chain if upgrading from short cage and 11-28T cassette (with 50-34 compact chainset) to 11-32 and Medium cage mech?
To increase from a 28T cassette to a 32T, you may need to add an additional full link to the chain.
It's what I would call Gunmetal Grey. Quite Dark.
Thank you Rob
However, on the spec for the medium cage derailleur it states that it can accommodate an 11-32T cassette. The bike I am looking to put this on is a Cannondale Caadx Ultegra (2013). So if I purchase the medium cage will it fit? I cannot seem to find a long cage anywhere.
tips would be much appreciated.
