The XC30 features a tough PVC coated synthetic leather and mesh upper for snug and breathable comfort out on the trails. Three velcro straps provide simple and secure closure. A flexible insole cushions and conforms to a wide range of foot shapes.

A glass fibre reinforced polyamide outsole for stiffness and efficient power transfer. A durable rubber tread offers excellent traction and walking comfort.

Shimano XC30 SPD Mountain Bike Shoes 4 5 2 2

Perform well, look good, fit great These are my first clip in shoes and I really like them. I struggled to find a pair of any Shimano shoe on wiggle in my size but I'm glad I found these. They fit really well, I'm in Aus and am between a 9-10, I have a narrow foot. I got a 44 but I did check my fit in another bike shop just to make sure. I would have got a 44 anyway. The shoes have very little grip on wet rocks or other hard surfaces but they are great in mud and dirt. I gave them a good workout over a longish ride in wet weather and they performed perfectly. Already recommended them to a couple of friends. 11 March 2013

Nice MTB shoes! I recently bought a pair of these, and had a chance to use them for the first time yesterday. Having been using platform pedals and flat trainers for years, these are my first SPD shoes and I am very pleased with them. I am using them with TIME Z pedals (which use the ATAC cleat system). I have been playing around with cleat position as the shoes offer a good range of location adjustment for them. I was fortunate enough to be able to try before I bought, and am glad I did. I usually wear a size 8 trainer and formal shoe. I tried these in a EUR 42, with an averagely thick pair of socks, and they were just large enough, with no room for a thicker sock or toe wiggle (!) room.. I almost bought them that size, but decided to try the EUR 43. I am glad I did, as the 3 strap arrangement meant I was able to do these up to give a good secure fit - which was just as secure as the 42 - but there was enough room to move my toes, and wear a thicker pair of socks. I also was able to sample a few other MTB SPD shoes, and these were the lightest - not that it matters much to me personally, but still noteworthy. Even lighter than some other shoes at twice the price. Quality feels very good, and they look pretty smart too. They have a few mesh panels (as did all SPD shoes I sampled), which no doubt will be great in summer, but I went out in -3 C and heavy snow and ended up with numb wet feet... what else could I expect though?! (I have since ordered some DHB winter overshoes to remedy this). Being an MTB shoe, they have a knobblier sole than a road shoe, which offers improved traction - although I found myself slipping around a bit in muddy/icy slush yesterday. On the sole near the front there looks to be two round 'bosses' that may accept football boot type studs - that would certainly assist grip at the toe - although there is no threaded hole to actually fit them. Perhaps that is a feature of another Shimano model and they use the same sole mold in the factory? All in all, very pleased. Shimano quality, good fit, adjustable, comfortable. Would have liked a little more grip but maybe I'm just being too fussy! 21 January 2013
