Shimano has raised the bar with the next generation of mountain bike shifting, XTR Rapidfire Plus pods now offer instant, 2-way release and multi-shifting functions for the slickest mountain bike shifting there is.
2-Way release: allows shifting from various riding positions, the upper lever still performs the same Multi Shift function but it can now swing in either direction allowing it to be released by the thumb or index finger
Multi Release: allows multiple gear shifting from both levers with one sweep from either lever, further adding to the speed at which you can go up or down the cassette or chainset
Make sure the gear levers you choose are the correct ones for your rear cassette - either 8/9 or 10 speed. Also check that the integrated brake levers (if fitted) are cable or hydraulic to suit your brake calipers. Most SRAM shifters are only compatible with their own derailleurs.
