Your're Not Given Full Function Control! In normal circumstances I’d have rated this as a good bike computer. The manual is poor but the overall functionality is as designed – HOWEVER – this device has a ‘Service Interval’ alert similar to that provided on cars. Quite useful you may think. BUT (and I quote) ‘the service interval can only be switched on/off or pre-programmed by your dealer’ . Like many cyclists I carry out my own servicing. Personally I’d switch the service interval timer off – but Sigma don’t provide me with the means to so I’ll have ‘Inspection’ showing on the screen whenever I go to use the bike. I find it arrogant of Sigma to restrict the control of the functionality in this way, so be warned if it’s likely to irritate you as much as it does me. 07 March 2012

Straightforward and works well Got this for my wife's bike after two previous attempts to get her a suitable computer. One was too complicated for her to use; the second needed to be switched on again after a 5 minute break - why would anyone design that as a feature?! So the Sigma BC1009 just does what you expect of a cycle computer - all for £26. Great. 25 February 2012

nice and clear display a simple wired computer, just what you need. wires are not a problem if you route them properly. it is light, and the display can be read easily. setting and menu navigation is a bit difficult, though. I'm still not used to it. My old computer seems much easier to use to me. 30 December 2011

Good value computer I bought this for an Audax bike so it needed to be dependable easy to use and provide clear accurate info - it does all of this at a good price. Cons are it doesnt have a backlight but if you wear a headlamp like I normally do then this isnt a problem. 30 December 2011

Mounts for Sigma Computers

I have heard all SIgma computers are stem mountable, is this correct or only certain models?

Answer:

The bracket supplied is designed to be fitted to the handlebars.
To fit the bracket to the stem, loosen the 4 screws on the back, turn the plate by 90° and tighten them.

Answer:

The Sigma BC1009 mount can rotate 90 degrees which allows mounting horizontally on either handlebars or handlebar stem. The mount uses a (once only ?) adhesive pad (+ rubber band) so you need to decide where you want it before fixing it 'permanently'.

yeah you just have unscrew the bracket mount and turn it through 90 degree. need a small cross head screwdriver though

The magnet attached to the bike computer fits standard spokes.
"TOOL-FREE POWER MAGNET 2009" fits bladed spokes. It is an extra-cost option.

The bracket fits on oversize handlebars.
The bracket can either be fitted with cable ties or
with the O-rings.

Hi, This is not designed to work on a rear wheel. I had the same idea myself initially and it wont work. Unfortunately you need a cadence counter and you have to spend megga money to get one that gives you all the info you want. I gave up in the end

Sigma BC1009 Wired Trip Computer - Erratic & non reading.

This worked fine for 2 months @ 600kms but now acts erratically; showing a zero reading or the speed jumping about all over the place from 0, 6, 20 to 4 etc within a few seconds at same speed. I've tried the obvious things to improve the mount to head unit connection finally fitting a cable tie around both parts to hold them together tightly. The wheel magnet is fixed solidly with a small gap to the detector unit. I've checked the battery. Some fixes show a small improvement for a short time but it's still erratic and unreliable. I've heard of wireless units being erratic like this and that's why I bought a wired unit ! Has anyone had this problem or have any ideas please ?
