The Adult Aqua-V cap is a unique multi-density silicone competition and racing cap that has been designed with Speedo Aqualab. With a smooth form this lightweight cap offers 5% reduction in passive drag in comparison to standard latex caps. The thick section through the top ensures the cap is wrinkle free minimising resistance in the water, the mid section is the thinnest section allowing the cap to stretch for user comfort, the base section runs around the hairline providing an ergonomic and stable fit.

About the Speedo brand

Speedo produce a fantastic range of swimwear and swimming accesories including swimsuits, swimming goggles, kickboards, swimming fins and pullbouys plus much more. Founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The 'SPEEDO' company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills. This acceptance of swimwear and the introduction of the ‘Racerback’ costume meant it was time for a new company name. A staff competition was held and won by a Captain Parsonson who coined the slogan ‘Speed on in your Speedos’. The SPEEDO name was born in 1928.

Great cap, nice fit, but small sizing As per my summary, it's a great cap, nice fit, but the sizing is small. I wish the made a XXL. Note, good fit, that is good cut, but small sizing. 11 February 2013

No wrinkles! Worth paying the extra for. I previously wore a standard Speedo silicon cap and although they’re cheap and easy to get on, they wrinkle up on the top of my head. This caused noticeable drag during push-offs and a feeling that the cap was about to slip off. I saw the Speedo Aqua-V cap on Wiggle and it claimed to stop this wrinkling effect, so I bought one. The cap is made up of different panels of silicone which are thicker where the cap would normally wrinkle (on the top) and thinner where it needs to stretch (at the sides). It also has a much more defined shape – unlike a standard silicon cap. I bought a “medium”, but found that it was too small for my head, so I returned it to Wiggle and received a “large” in exchange. Thanks guys :-) The fit feels different from other swim caps I’ve worn. When properly fitted, it stops just above my eyebrows, covers the top half of my ears and comes down to cover my hairline at the back of my neck. It’s a really smooth and even fit, and keeps the amount of water getting in to a minimum. I really like the way it doesn’t enclose my ears, allowing water to drain out and since wearing the cap I haven’t once had to use “swim-ear” to release water trapped in my ears. I also haven’t had to use any talcum powder to stop the cap getting “sticky” which I have to do regularly with cheap silicon swim caps. I think this is because the cap holds its shape while not being worn and the resulting air-spaces help any remaining water to dry naturally. The only down side is that’s it’s a bit more expensive that a cheap silicon cap and getting hold of colours other than black or red is difficult. Also, because the Aqua-V fit is so close, I can’t use my Finis Tempo Trainer under it – there’s just no room! 30 November 2012

Would a swim cap work with lots of hair?

I've never tried a swim cap before. I have lots of hair, to the tops of my shoulders, extremely curly n so even wet it's quite big -it either gets in my eyes or if I tie it back it just adds probably noticeable drag. So I'm interested in a swim cap but I doubt it would fit and hold my hair back/in/out the way without getting tangled. It'd also be nice if it keeps the chlorine out of my hair. Any comments?

Answer:

It is unlikely to hold your hair and keep water out but you may be fine. The only way to tell is to try it out. The caps are tight enough around the base to provide hold even with alot of hair but it depends on the managability of the hair and the exact quantity.
