Useless when wet
I've had the Ultegra meter for a while now. In that time it has gone back to the manufaxcturer four times because it simply packs in when it gets wet. Given it's used for an outdoor sport I think it's a fundamentsl flaw.
The current one has packed in after a damp 20 mile ride last week and I've finally given up sending it back.

Expensive but very informative
This is very easy to install, a complete novice can install it in minutes, all you need is a torque wrench (essential) so that you don't break the stress gauges inside the crank arm and a £1.50 plastic crank removal tool.
With the Stages app on your phone or ipad, its easy to update firmware, check battery level and calibrate.
But like others say, you do get data drop out with an out-front mount, which is poor for a product that is clearly going to link to a head unit that is mounted out-front.

Simple and & good value power meter
I've got three bikes with Shimano Hollowtech II cranks of the same length, so this is a great power meter for this scenario. Buy the Shimano crank tool for £150 and swapping crank arms takes a few minutes
I looked at reviews of the product before buying but have had none of the problems discussed on forums. I deliberately waited for the Gen 2 version for this reason. Battery life seems OK, the unit seems watertight after a couple of wet rides, easily pairs with a Wahoo head unit. easy to zero reset, power data seems accurate and consistent

How do I measure my crank to ensure I am buying the correct size of power meter.
Asked by: MBBill
The crank arm length is measured from centre to centre (pedal axle to chainset spindle). You should find that your crank arm length is written on the inside of the arm.

Hi there,
Can you move Shimano stages power meters between 105, ultegra and dura ace or do you have to have one for each?
Thanks

Hi will this fit my old fc-6601 ultegra crank,i am not bothered about color or shape just fit thanks Lloyd.
Asked by: lloydrunner
Hi Lloyd,
This will fit any Hollowtech II chainset, including your FC-6601.
If you're not bothered about colour and shape, why not go for the 105 5800 model and save some money?
