The Sirius is a striking cycle trainer with an ergonomically shaped frame that 'gives' slightly as you cycle. The magnetic brake consists of two discs, each of which has six permanent magnets. The 10-setting remote resistance lever changes the position of the magnets in the brake unit relative to one another. In the course of training the power increases when you cycle faster and/or at a harder setting.
The Sirius features a 2 kg balanced steel flywheel for a smooth pedalling action. The heavier the flywheel, the greater the mass moment of inertia.

Magazine reviews for Tacx Sirius Folding Cycle Trainer
Review from 220 Triathlon
The first thing you notice when you ride on this folding magnetic trainer form Tacx is just how quiet it is...It has a hefty 1kg flywheel, which provides a smooth pedalling action and there's also plenty of scope for variety in your workouts with ten different resistance settings on the bar-mounted lever...the folding frame is really solid and the wheel clamping device is so solid it's foolproof...it offers a setup that equals turbo's that are £20-£30 more expensive.
A quiet, silky trainer that punches above its weight
Rating: Performance 9/10 | Vlaue 8/10
Product Q & A
Ask your questions and share your answers.
I've just used this 2 or 3 times and loads of tiny shreds of rubber are rubbing off the back tyre.. there is a noticeable bald-line on my back tyre now..
I am definitely still in the amateur/weakling category of cyclists, so this isn't due to some super-hard power-riding.
Any advice is much appreciated.
I bought a continental turbo trainer tyre for use with this, however I have 2 bikes, one for use on the turbo and one for the road so I do not have the problem of needing to change the wheel.
the trainer tyres are good because they are VERY hard, and wear down slowly.
so yeah, it's not a necessity to buy the tyre, but its probably advised.
I seem to be having problem setting the resistance on the trainer correctly. I'm using continental ultra gatorskin tyres 700x23c 100psi (as it was worse with 120psi)
I know something isn't right as when I stop pedalling wheel stops instantly absolutely no flywheel movement. The resistance is set to 10 via the cable which I assume is the lowest setting?
I've tried turning the knob on the underside but it doesn't allow enough adjustment.
I assume I didn't need to use the enclosed adapter's with a 700c wheel
I'm not 100% about the wheel size, but the trainer has several size adapters supplied with it, so you should be ok
piece W with 4 bolts, nuts and rings (fig.6 in the instructions).
