The new Timex Target Trainer Heart rate monitor facilitates the very latest in Heart Rate training. The T5F001 has all the feature you require when designing a program around heart rate, including interval trainers and displaying HR in percentage of max, this HRM is a serous training monitor which as with all Timex equipment easy to use, as well as being a very accurate and well designed sports watch.
Using Timex's digital transmission the T5F001 protects the signal from interference by other heart rate users and electrical equipment in close proximity. The Timex Digital Heart Rate Monitor incorporates the very latest digital technology from Timex in conjunction with the fitness experts and personal trainers of the Ironman Institute. As the world leader in sport timing devices, Timex has created a Digital Heart Rate Monitor that offers the digital accuracy demanded by world-class athletes with the functions that anyone of any age could use.
Digital transmission allows the user to train in a gym environment within close proximity to other gym users who may be using a heart rate monitor. With a heart rate monitor using analogue transmission it is possible that the user may experience crossover interference, showing inaccurate readings of heart rate. Crossover interference is the signals for two or more heart rate transmitters interfering with each other. To download the heart rate data to a PC software package the user needs the Timex data recorder.

About Heart Rate Monitors

A heart rate monitor gives you an accurate measurement of how hard your body is working. This allows you to adjust how hard you exercise and achieve your fitness goals, it can also let you know if you should not train as you may need more recovery time. All models will display a basic 'rev counter' indicating your current heart rate in beats per minute. More complex HRM's add simultaneous displays of how hard you are working as a percentage of your maximum rate or how long you've managed to maintain your heart rate inside pre-set target zones. This is a great feature for targeting specific training zones, these are often reffered to as the following: The Energy Efficient or Recovery Zone which is 60% to 70%, The Aerobic Zone - 70% to 80%, The Anaerobic Zone - 80% to 90%, The Anaerobic Zone - 80% to 90% of your maximum heart rate. Each zone has a specific benefit and a HRM will help you to stay within these zones and achieve those benefits. The ability to download data directly to a PC for later analysis is also a nice feature if you're following a long-term fitness program, this can also show what's working well for you.
