We were thinking of using these for covering bikes whilst touring and camping to keep the rain off, does anyone have a rough idea of how heavy they are and how small they pack up?

hi there, I just bought one of these and they're about the size of a iphone when folded up, and about an inch thick. It's very light weight, I would say 100g or so.

No... but the cover is lose enough that you could have it slightly raised on one side where the lock would be attached to the bike/pole.

Hello,
For a Surly LHT with 26" wheels and panniers, is it better to take the MTB or Road model? Thanks

Answer:
Not familiar with your make of bike but the cover's fit is mainly governed by the wheel size so the MTB version works for 26 inch wheels. Note that it's not a good fit for a 29er.

I often have to leave my bike outdoors when I'm at work, they use standard upside down U shaped posts mounted in the ground to lock the bikes to. Will this cover go over the bike and the locking post?

Answer:
It is a tight fit over a standard MTB bike, so I think you will struggle to get it over a bike and the stand, which means you will probably damage all to quickly.
I used to use a motorbike cover (cheap, robust and plenty of room) for my bike at work (similar locking arrangement) and just left the cover permamently at work.

Answer:
I lock mine to a fence post with a long-ish thick cable which sits about mid-wheel height. The cover goes over my 60cm hybrid bike frame and easily reaches down over the pedals on the non-lock side and both tyres. I use the pouch hookstrap to tie it down to protect from the wind.

It goes over my 19" Dawes Hybrid and locking post. It's quite voluminous - you can see how baggy it is from the picture. You can get the exact dimensions from the Topeak site and then measure. I bought the MTB one.

Answer:
It depends if it has flat bars or drops.
For flats go for MTB, for drops go for Road.
MTB fits over both if you are unsure. It fits bigger than the road so with be baggier that's all (to allow chunkier tyres, longer wheelbase and wider bars).

If your hybrid has wide flat/riser bars go for the MTB cover. Otherwise the Road version would probably be best.

Answer:
I have a Ridgeback Genesis Day03 60cm frame and the MTB cover fits fine. The elastic round the bottom isn't strong enough to stop a strong wind from removing the cover, but the handlebars to saddle fit shouldn't be a problem and the handlebar width is OK for me and my bars are farily wide.

Answer:
The MTB version nicely fits my wife 700c wheel hybrid (Straight handlebars), but the cut of the cover won't allow it to go over drop handlebars (I tried it).
The road version fits nicely over drop handlebars, but was too small for my 700c touring bike (primarily on length, but also on saddle height) so I had to send it back. So, unless you've got a small frame there will not be enough slack in the cover to go over your aero bars.

The handlebar section of the cover is fitted so you may struggle to get it to fit onto a bike with tri bars. Since bikes are varying sizes and shapes you might be fine but its a case of trying it on your bike.
