Maybe if you stand the bike with the front wheels you can lift your bike up to work on the gears.
You can spin the chain backwards without an issue though.

As for Maintenance probably not. we use an old type bike carrier that attaches to a car and have it bolted to the fence it works well. you can check everything and both wheels can spin.
