Road

Made from 10mm aluminium tubing, the Tour Ultralite is the ideal choice for fast tourers and audax riders. Multi-mount fittings make installation quick and simple to a wide variety of bicycles. A rear facing plate accommodates either a dynamo, reflector or a Cateye rear LED light for maximum safety when cycling at night.

Not universal A good, strong looking, cheap rack. Only problem was there were no horizontal bars at the bottom to hook onm my deuter paneers. Couldn't find any way of hooking them on. So looked good, felt strong, but defintaly not universal. I took a refund and found a more expensive but compatable rack. 09 July 2010

Neat rack I wanted something light and this rack certainly is a lightweight. It was easy to installI. In a few minutes i had the job done. The weldings are clean and it does look good on my bike. A usefull addition. 07 July 2010

Great Value This is excellent value in an inexpensive aluminium rack for a commuter or if you have several bikes needing racks to make them more useful. For loaded touring you may want something with more than a 25kg max load rating and quadrilateral shape side frames for controlling well stuffed panniers. That said, it works fine with lightly loaded Ortlieb back-roller panniers with the adjustable hook on the back panel to capture the vertical strut. If your panniers use a bottom hook on elastic strap to hold the panniers in close, this rack lacks a spot to hook the hook. I chose the black sandblasted finish option which appears both even and durable. The welds are neat and good looking and a rear plate is provided for mounting a tail-light. Fitting was easy with solidly made drawbolt fittings to adjust length and distance apart of the horizontal stays. The makers thoughtfuly provide half a dozen 5mm capscrews in assorted lengths for mounting the rack. You choose the four which work best. The screws have a dry blue threadlocker already applied. In short, an attractive looking rack which won't weigh down your bike or your wallet. 28 June 2010

Is this rack suitable for fitting a pair of Panniers for example the Ortileb Back Roller Classics?

I have Atura Arran panniers which are a perfect secure fit on this rack.

Ortlieb arer an excellent product,but personally I don't see the point of buying something that weigh a tonne and cost significantly more.Whilst the fabric may be heavier how can then be harder wearing since the fabric will not be doing any work!!

What is the distance between drop-out fixing holes and the underside of the rack?

This refers to the Tortec Ultralite rear rack. I need to know the clearance to allow a mudguard to be fitted under the rack.

I do not have the measurements to hand, but the instructions say that the rack can be fitted to 700 wheel frames. I fitted to 26" wheel frame and there was lots of clearance including the mudguards that I also fitted.

Will this fit a Giant Seek 2 with disc brakes?

Hi,

Do you know if this will fit a 2010 Giant Seek 2? It has disc brake which I understand can be a problem?

There are mounting lugs near the saddle so that fixing is ok - it's near the rear wheel I'm not sure about.

i doubt it, as 1 its very thin and 2 the legs come down with no angle to them, you would be better off going for the disc specific ones, which look like they could carry a tank.

I have a Cannondale Bad Boy with discs and it fits OK. The rear calliper on mine doesn't protrude proud of the frame. There is enough give to space the rack out at the rear mounting if necessary.

Depends where the brake calliper is on your bike.
If the calliper is in the "normal" position above the seat stay - then no.
If the calliper is positioned between the seat stay and chain stay (as it is on my 2012 boardman hybrid team) - then yes.

This distance is variable, given the way these bars attach to the rack they can be used in 2 different conformations which would accomodate any frame from a very narrow tube to the oversized tubing found on many MTB's.
