About Rim Brakes
Rim brakes for bikes use the sidewall of the rim to reduce speed, this is done by a pad on either side applying friction against the rim, which reduces your momentum. Road brake callipers have been redesigned over the years and now use a system called 'dual pivot' which means the brake arms pivot off centre to apply a higher amount of pressure on the rim to increase your stopping power. Most manufacturers use dual pivot callipers on the front and rear, but some Campagnolo brakes use a traditional single pivot on the rear to 'balance' the braking power, the logic behind this is that as you brake your weight shifts on to the front of the bike and as much as 75% of the braking force is applied to the front.

Product Q & A
Ask your questions and share your answers.
Just not sure whether 8.4 (suited to Campag/SRAM) or 9 (Suited to shimano) are the best bet for my tektro levers.
I guess the question is, what levers have my tektro copied!
They are the shorter version of the RL340.
These brakes are for cyclocross bikes, where caliper levers are the norm. From what I understand, the 9 and 8.4 are tuned to Shimano and Campag/Sram levers respectively. I just don't know which type the Tektro levers fall into, and therefore which of the TRP brakes would work best.
Can this brake be installed as a front brake on a Boardman Air TT 9.0? In other words, is this the right replacement part for a Boardman Air TT front brake? if not, could you please suggest which one I could use?
Thanks in advance!
Also query on TRP CX8.4/TRP CX9 brake pad, can I use road bike brake pads (ie: 105/ultegra/DA brake pads) for replacement. Thanks.
As for the TRP CX 8.4 and TRP CX 9.0, I can also confirm that these should be suitable for use with TRP's road size brake blocks and inserts.
