About Pannier Racks
Bicycle racks give your bike versatility, it means you can go shopping, commute to work with a change of clothes, or go touring. It's safer and more comfortable to carry weight on the bike, rather than in a backpack. It keeps the centre of gravity low down and means less weight on your hands and bum. A good quality rack will support either a rack pack or, for larger loads, a pair of panniers. Racks which fit directly onto the frame are best, but for full suspension models, seat post mounted racks are also very effective. Disc brakes are also no longer a problem, with more and more brands making disc specific bicycle racks.

Magazine reviews for Tubus Tara Lowrider Front Rack
Review from Bikeradar
The whole Tubus range of racks is pretty much as good as it gets, including the two-tiered, heavy duty Cargo and the midweight Vega.
We particularly like the Tara front rack for its elegance and simplicity. It's easy to fit, very adjustable and relatively light, given that it's made from tough, repairable chromoly tubing.
Best of all, though, it packs down almost flat, so will slot easily into a bike box or bag for transporting your trusty wheels around the globe to your starting destination.
Positioning the load low on your bike will help provide stable, predictable steering, though at the cost of some ground clearance.
The Tara is rated to 15kg, there are eyelets for fitting a mudguard, and it's compatible with 26in and 700c wheels.
The best front rack: rigid, light, repairable and folds away flat for transport
Product Q & A
Ask your questions and share your answers.
It depends where your eyelets are and the mounting position of your brakes.
They do sell a special disc brake front carrier.
Thanks in advance :-)
Now if I want to keep this rack what do I do to make it fit?
Question 1 : You don't seem to carry these, where do I get them?
On the Ortlieb site there is a more detailed leaflet on the QL1 system. It includes instructions for rotating the round disc under the pannier bottom hook to increase the gap from 10 to 13mm and this is enough to secure the panniers to the Tara 14mm tube. My Ortlieb Front Roller Classic and now fitted and rock solid.
No reason it couldn't fit 26" forks, just might not be level depending on where the braze-ons are. There would be even more clearance for guards on a 26" fork.
