This Vision TriMax Carbon TT BB30 Chainset is no longer available although you may find similar or newer versions below:
Designed and engineered to slice through the wind, the TriMax Carbon TT BB30 crankset features hollow carbon crank arms mated to an oversized extruded AL7050 spindle. The TriMax Carbon TT BB30 crankset is the ultimate weapon.
|Bottom Bracket Type:||BB30|
For the ultimate in efficiency, the TriMax Carbon TT BB30 comes complete with ceramic BB30 bottom bracket bearings and aerodynamic carbon/AL7075 CNC machined chainrings.
BB30 is LIGHTER: By eliminating the BB cups and using an aluminium spindle, the weight of the crank and BB assembly can be reduced by up to 12%.
BB30 is NARROWER: With the bearings inside the BB shell, the crankset can be made narrower in this critical area, increasing ankle clearance.
BB30 is STIFFER: Confirmed by new EFBe testing, the BB30 design increases the stiffness of the crankset.
BB30 is MORE DURABLE: BB30 bearings are significantly larger than those used in other systems, resulting in longer bearing life. Increasing the inner diameter of the bottom bracket shell by 23% (from ~35mm to ~42mm) enables the use of aluminium alloy as spindle material, saving up to 110g. New bearing size shows a better ratio between race and balls diameter, improving smoothness and bearing life.
Ergonomically, BB30 cranks offer lower U-factor, permitting improved crank curvature for more ankle clearance and a better ride.
FSA is widely credited with introducing Ceramic Bearings to the wider bicycle world.
In just six short years, their adoption by elite racers is overwhelming. For example, in the 2004 Games in Athens, only one athlete rode them.
By the 2008 Beijing Games, more than 100 athletes rode on ceramic bearings.
In the meantime, FSA has gone further than anyone to make ceramic standard equipment on its upper end, K-Force components. We use them in hubs, bottom brackets, headsets, and derailleur pulleys. No one has greater experience with ceramics in the market or in the peloton, so you can continue to put your trust in bearings by FSA.
Full Speed Ahead uses a unique air bladder molding technology for all K-Force and SL-K cranksets, yielding a hollow crank arm and spider with an I-beam down the length of the arm.
FSA’s hollow cranksets are true monocoque structures delivering great strength and light weight.
Your chainset must fit onto your bottom bracket! There are currently four chainset/bottom bracket interfaces that you're likely to come across. If your bottom bracket is made by Shimano and it has splines, then you need an Octalink chainset. If your b/b is NOT made by Shimano and it has splines, it's almost certainly ISIS. There are a very few non-Shimano chainsets with Shimano Octalink interfaces so, to be sure, count the splines - ISIS has 9, Octalink has (surprise, surprise) 8. No matter which brand of b/b you have, if it has a square interface, it will require a traditional square taper chainset. If you have one of the new Hollowtech II systems, you will need to choose the exact chainset that matches your bottom bracket. Most MTB chainsets are now 9-speed compatible but these will work with an 8-speed system.
Since its birth in the ‘90’s, Vision has been synonymous with a no-expense spared assault on wind resistance. Recent years saw the innovative application of carbon fiber and the creation of dream-like shapes to enhance performance. Perhaps no aerobar line has been so imitated, but usually with little success. Following yet another triumphant season in triathlon and TT, Vision is again the brand to beat. In Ironman competition, Vision has led the way by innovating slippery-fast aero products that actually function properly in race conditions. Aerodynamics combined with adjustability and fit take years to combine correctly. 2012 continues the quest for speed with the new Metron TFA aerobar. The TFA is UCI legal, exceptionally light, and rigorously tested with Computational Fluid Dynamics and wind tunnel testing. Along with the TFA, Vision continues to lead the industry with adjustment friendly semi-integrated, clip-on, and UCI legal bar options, as well as the revolutionary Metron groupset. Vision also becomes the driving force for new wheel technology in 2012 with a stunning range offering significant weight savings at price points not seen before. Visions' wheel assembly programme features both carbon and alloy rims with CNC hubs manufactured in-house by FSA's own purpose built wheel factories. The rims and hubs are combined with high precision SKF bearings and Sapim spokes to be hand built in Italy, the Artisan wheelbuilder adding a serial number to each wheel. FSA Italy and the new FSA UK Technical support centre offer advice, spares and support to keep your wheels rolling.
