Magazine reviews for Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Home Trainer Tyre
Review from Cycling Weekly
With the bitter weather we've been having, and to avoid icy roads, I have become re-acquainted with my old turbo trainer. It's not the nicest way to spend a training session and can increase the wear of your winter treads, so replacing the tyre with one specific to the job has its benefits. Vittoria's home trainer tyre does everything it should, the tread pattern helps dissipate heat and the constant drone of the tyre on roller is substantially reduced.
The only issue that may arise is if you only have one pair of wheels – who wants to continually swap tyres? The bright red also works well to let you know you have a turbo tyre on; you don't want to be riding down the road on one of these, it'll be like riding on ice!

This item seems like a logical choice but I can't be doing with swapping the tyres over each time I use the trainer!
I've just changed my tyre as I don't have a spare wheel and I'm not out until spring due to injury.
yes, a turbo specific tyre is made of a different compound so more hard wearing. it may be advisable to purchase a cheaper rear wheel , and fit it with one of the turbo trainer tyres, much quicker than swapping a tyre over each time.
Not looking for aything expensive - just something at the bottom of the price range I can lob on the bike when it gets icy!
I use an old one lying about in my local bike shop. Required an attack with a spoke wrench, but saved money to spend on stuff that would be useful. Just ask them.
I hope this helps.
26" (your average MTB tyre size) 29" (usually on an MTB 29'er) and 700c ('road bike' size).
