Each stem is wrapped by hand from more than 50 pieces of precision-cut carbon cloth with machined aluminium yokes at the steerer and stem clamp areas.

The elegant, forged aluminium faceplate is highly polished with a very thin stainless steel insert to ensure maximum stiffness and durability. To find the M4 titanium bolts, we left no stone unturned and sourced from the same Italian facility that produces the ones used by Ducati's MotoGP racing program.

The SL145 tips the scales at 135g (100mm) and is available in lengths from 100mm to 130mm. +/- 12.5 degree angle and 31.8mm clamp.

Zipp SL145 Carbon Oversized Road Stem 4 5 4 4

Great Stem, absorbs road shock Purchased this stem and installed it on my TT bike and was amazed at how much road vibration it absorbed. I had to check if my tyres had lost pressure of the road had been resealed as there was a huge difference in this versus my old stem. Brilliant ! 23 January 2013

Outstanding Stem. I have had five of these stems in various sizes on my bikes. The difference in stiffness over any other stem I've ever used is remarkable and really transforms the handling compared to Aluminium stems. I don't think you could appreciate the difference until you've tried it yourself but when you do you'll realise how much your previous stem's flexing was effecting how your bike feels. Especially noticeable is out of the saddle climbing or sprinting. If you can look past the expense this is truly worth having. I've raced full time for a number of years, never been sponsored by Zipp but this is the stem I use, even if I have to sand off the graphics which is a shame as it looks so good! 12 October 2011

Fragile alloy face plate I bought the Zipp SL145 stem in combination with Zipp's contour flat top carbon bars. 18 months in I've noticed that the alloy face plate is cracked on the outside of 3 of the 4 bolt holes. I always tighten the bolts with my Ritchey Torque key, which is preset to 5nm. The face plate suggests 6nm max. My local bike said it was a known design fault. The other thing to consider is that due to the shape of the stem, mounting a speedo is a pain. 18 May 2011
