Answer:
Hi smac
If you go onto the product description page you will see the PWX Flex ratings with the red bars. At the bottom there is the general sizing guides for clothing but not the calf guards. However, below the PWX Flex chart there is a link button "For a size guide, click here".
If you click on this, it brings up the calf guard sizing guide. You are right in point 1, they are sized off the circumference of the calf.
Hope this helps.

Answer:
There is a size guide on the product - its just to the right of the main picture under the description/review text. It says:
For a size guide click here
You measure your calf girth and then look on the guide to see which size to buy. Its not related to leg length.

Answer:
Check the Compressport calf guard which has a sizing chart as you use both the length of your lower leg and the circumference of your calf at the top and bottom. Compressport is also significantly better and worth the extra.

Answer:
I had some trouble deciding as well since my calf circumference is 15", I ended up ordering a Small and they fit great, they can be tough to get on but that is because the tight stitching at the top and bottom is hard to pull over your heal but once they were on they felt great.

Answer:
Hi. I would definitely in your case go for a medium. My calf size is in the 15.5 to 16" range and they are a good tight fit. So at 15.5" dead, medium should be fine.

I would tend to suggest that with compression wear you go for the small, this will maximise the compression effect.

I have worn these during triathlons and I have not noticed any added buoyancy.
Note they do not hold water as they are skin tight and they dry very quickly.

Answer:
No; not buoyant. Wetsuits provide some buoyancy, but if your race isn't wetsuit legal then you're probably not allowed to wear anything else that is buoyant either.
I feel your pain on the sinking legs issue. Only thing for it is to work with a swim coach and improve your body position in the water. It does take time though.

I haven't swam in mine but judging by the material I can't see them helping with buoyancy at all, they are made of a very thin silky material which I can't see helping.

Answer:
The material is a very fine stretch knitted fabric which helps wick moisture from the skin. However, the structure is not built to improve bouyancy. I wore them under my wetsuit, but the bottom wicked moisture all the way to the top.

The calf guards probably weigh a less than a gram won't assist your weight for any buoyancy. Good question though.

No sorry, any buoyancy would be very marginal, a wetsuit if you are open water swimming would the solution: the 2XU R2 has 5mm neoprene all the way down the legs to combat leg sinking but all 2XU wetsuits wil help.
