Description

Benefiting from a 13mm round profile shackle this lock also benefits from the advanced Powercell double locking mechanism. Additional security is added to the lock through the ABUS Plus locking cylinder which offers advanced protection from lock picking. So that the lock can easily be transported the Granit 53 benefits from the USH bracket system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredibly solid lock Great solid lock. As you'd expect with a lock of this calibre, it is heavy by design. I commute with this lock. It's heavy but not unmanageable. I don't use the bike mount included with the lock and prefer to put the lock in my bag. The lock doesn't rattle like similar style locks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, strong, but heavy Avery sturdy and strong D lock, which is necessarily heavy but therefore difficult to transport on the bike itself. Simple key operation, and I do like the benefit of the key number kept on a card just in case!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A reasonable D lock that does its job. After finding out that my old 15 year old D lock with a circular key can be opened by a "BIC" pen I decided to invest in a new lock! Various amount of research led me to an ABUS lock brand. It also led me to realise that you can spend a lot of money and not necessarily get anything totally secure. So my requirement was for a Sold Secure Gold Standard D lock at a reasonable price, it should act as a reasonable deterrent. The lock appears satisfactory in use, it is a bit heavy to carry around commuting, but then I would at least like to find my bicycle where I left it!

What is the difference between the Abus Granit 53 USH D-Lock and the Granit X-Plus 540 230MM (USH) D-Lock?

From the details, I don't see a difference and would like to know. Both are made with 13mm steel, as well have the cell lock protection. http://www.wiggle.com/abus-granit-x-plus-540-230mm-ush-d-lock/

Ok so the Abus granite X-Plus 540 is basically the same lock but has had the aesthetic changed for this year. The older version is now discontinued as well.
