Campag chain tool
I already have the 10 speed chain tool, so it came as no surprise that this was more of the same. It has an engineered feel to it lacking in almost all other chain tools I have used, and I've used a few. The only down side is that it is very expensive, but then if you pay tuppence 'apenny you'll get cheap tat usually. If you want one tool that will work and last, buy this. If you are happy to pay twice as much for lots of tools that only last two or three chains each, well you get the gist.

Campagnolo 11 Speed Chain Tool
This is a very expensive, but beautifully made chain tool.
I do all my own bike building and maintenance, but with the new 11-speed Campag (Record) gear, I was having to make trips to the bike shops to get the chain joined...... was a PITA.
Anyway, I decided to get one of these and I have no regrets.
Value -wise - it only gets used whenever a new build or chain is required, but it spends the rest of the time gathering compliments on the coffee table or bar.
It really is a beautifully made tool.

expensive but does the job quickly and precisely
Used this tool twice now and found it very easy to use, very precise lining up if the chain, quick and easy?

Ultra-Precision
Once you learn the process of removing and installing a Campy chain, it's a snap with this tool. Unlike other chain tools, Campy's chain tool precisely positions and then holds the chain so that removal and installation of chain pins is perfectly done. It is actually two tools in one, in that it will both properly insert the specialized joining pin, and it will then peen the pin once properly installed. This is a great tool.

Excellent tool, essential for Campagnolo chains. Works well, just as you would expect for a Campag tool.

Excellent product
This tool is excellent to use. there is no denying the quality. Pretty much what I would expect from Campag.
You can get cheaper tools but then again you do get what you pay for.

Great high quality tool. Expensive, works well
Great tool. Easy to use once you know how. Don't read the instructions; go to the official Campagnolo website and watch the silent video on how to use it. It works perfectly every time. Don't buy the cheaper tool. A broken chain on a severe climb or descent could cost you everything.

It's expensive, but worth it
Campagnolo have created a great system here and it works really well. I must admit that I have 11 speed on both my bikes and will probably standardise on Campagnolo 11 speed on future bikes so it's an investment for the future.
It's expensive but to be fair, you get a beautiful piece of engineering for your money. Almost want my chain to wear out!

You need this to change a Campag Chorus Chain
Easy to use, just follow the YouTube vids. Save yourself from work chain rings and cassettes c£700 by replacing the chain yourself c£35 regularly when it is starting to wear

It's Campagnolo
You need this to replace your 11sp chain. The written instructions are actually pretty good. Campagnolo also has a short video showing how, find it either in the tech area of their website, or YouTube. I bought this tool a couple years ago but only used it recently for the first time. It went without a hitch, but I'm methodical and meticulous when it comes to bikes, and I have some long-ago shop experience. My only nit is that I figured pushing in the bushing might have a hard stop designed into the tool, but it is possible I think to push it in too far - I'll have to do it again to confirm. But it's pretty easy to judge the .1mm by looking at adjacent bushings. The quality of this tool is unsurpassed, as one has come to expect from Campagnolo. By far this is the best made tool in my collection. Sometimes I pull it out just to admire it, because let's face it, you're not going to use it very often.

Precision Tool.
The Speed chain tool from Campagnolo is an absolutely beautiful piece of precision engineering ,it works as you would expect for a tool of this price to do. I fitted a new chain last week and it took me only five minutes (very easy) . All the guess work is taken out by the design and it works like a dream. The only downside I can say is the price, if you are looking to do your own servicing on a regular basis then I would suggest getting this tool. If however you have you cycles serviced by a third party then the price is rather prohibitive..

quality product
For a good quality product you have to spend. i did and not regreting it. i fix my bikes myself. Because I switched to Campy a new chaintool was required. I got in on promotion here so did not hesitate to order one. Saves me trip to a bike shop.
if you don't mind to spend well recommended.

Stunning Quality
I was very worried about correctly installing my new Campagnolo 11 speed chain and super record components to my beloved Colnago Hi Power frame and could find no suitable budget alternative to the Campagnolo chain tool. As I was staying here in Aquatine was very easy to order from Wiggles postage free to the fairly remote village of St Michel de Montaigne. Was successfully delivered and beautifully packaged as are all Campagnolo products. The fitting is a little fiddly due mainly to the narrowness and precision quality of the chain but was done soon enough and next time will be a cinch. The tool is the epitome of quality and although expensive know that when back in Australia can sell probably for a profit if need be.

Good tool, shame about the price
This is an excellent tool which allows you to safely open and close Campagnolo 11 speed chains. It works very well and the pleasure in using it is only spoiled by the thought of the price which is not Wiggle's fault. An extra discount at time of order made it cheaper than anywhere else I could find.

Pro tool, very nerve-wracking for non pros ;-)
Campy products are well made. This one is no exception. absolute picometric precision, clear instructions and perfect results. Just that now I have to find lots of other chains to do to justify its price!! This is a downside of Campy - it is expensive but I would say spend the extra money if your bike club or friend does not have one, over the Park Tool equivalent, as you will really have something that 100% works.

Good if expensive
No denying it is expensive but it is well put together and made sense of the hitherto incomprehensible instructions from Campag on connecting a chain. Seemed a bit fiddly at first but actually worked fine and was pretty stricghtforward. I know it should be - it is only a bike chain but nonetheless....
31 January 2012
Like all Campagnolo tools this one is very high quality finish. It also makes joining a 11sp chain straightforward and gives reassurance that you have a good join (provided instructions still follow - of course).
05 November 2011
Provides a strong chain link
The chain sits very tight in the tool allowing good preasure to splay out the new pin. The join looks strong.
Great tool once you get the hang of it.
10 October 2011
Don't use anything else
You would be silly to purchase a Campagnolo Groupset and attempt to use any other chain tool. These are a little more expensive but the solid build quality and mechanism is well worth it.
The tool is so solid that joining the chain is such a confidence-building experience. It's Campagnolo!
05 June 2011
this chain tool is essential for joining campagnolo 11 speed chains - mainly due to the peening action required on the special chain joining pin - and operates with perfect precision. i was surprised at the size and quality of the tool which goes along way to explain the high cost. however, this is really a workshop only tool: not one to carry in your back pocket.

Work of Art
The look and feels of this chain tool leads me to think that you get what you pay for and this piece oozes quality. Operating this chain tool is fool proof and I know that it will give me professional results every time.

THE Tool
OK, there are ways of breaking and joining an 11 speed Campo chain but this tool is the correct one.
I lend mine to a high profile rider/ mechanic when needed- especially after someone does an Andy Schleck on a group ride. You don't want that to happen again.
Wiggle is the best price you will get- because I've looked all over. If you are not completely OK with purchasing it for yourself, do a deal with someone (LBS, riding group).
29 December 2010
The price...
Use this tool now connects the Campagnolo chain to ensure there is no.
This tool will absolutely do the work!
And it looks cool.
However, this price is high!
It becomes a bit cheaper is the five stars.
18 December 2010
Expensive but top quality
Was thinking about going for a cheaper option but glad I didn't. Even though its expensive you are getting a high quality tool, which you first realise while holding the very heavy small box it comes in!
04 November 2010
The Correct Tool
Working as a professional mechanic I chose my tools carefully being limited to airline weight restrictions. If it’s in a Hotel car park or a Service Course I need to know that each tool in my case will have a floorless performance. Fitting more than 140 chains in a year this tool embraces all aspects of precision reliability and durability.

Tool for life
I had reservations about spending £100+ on a chain tool, but this really is a quality piece of kit. A first class job and you can be assured the chain is connected properly.
28 September 2010
Great tool, very well made, lovely and comfy to use but Blinking expensive!
02 June 2010
What can you say, if you have 11 speed then you are going to want one of these. Otherwise pool together with your fellow 11s buddies and buy one. Ridculously expensive. You would be surprised to know how few shops actually use the correct tool
02 June 2010
Works as it should for the price
Why Campag have to have some proprietary system I don't know, but they do so this is the only choice I know of to correctly join their 11 speed chains. Of course it works, and it works well, although the process is a little fiddly compared to the beautiful simplicity of a Connex link. Not something one would want to carry to deal with an on-ride chain breakage - in fact I'm not sure if there is an answer for that scenario. So yes it works, yes its good quality, but not good value - but hey you probably didn;t by Campag because it was cheap...?

you can't do without it
Expensive, great tool
you can't do without it and don't try anything else.
better to have one and do it yourself
