The best 9 speed chain there isVery tough long lasting and slick chain. Works perfectly with my Shimano XT/XTR drive train. I use a SRAM power link (quick release link) and it works perfectly. I use my bike day in day out on and off road and I haven't managed to wear one of these chains out in thousands of miles. Very highly recommended.
Will this work with any 9 speed group, or only with Camag?
Asked by: JohnMac89
It will work with any 9 speed, but the shape is optimised with campag.

Any chain tool will work with Campy chain?
I have a standard chain tool. Can I use it to open this chain or I need a Campy dedicated one?
Thanks
Asked by: Giacomo79
I've used a standard park tools chain tool with this chain - no problems.
Be careful not to push the pin right out if splitting the chain!

late 90's early 2000's groupset and cahin
as mentioned in a question above, you said you would need to chain the cassette as well if you change this chain on a late 90's or early 2000's groupset.
question is why would it slip if you just changed the chain.
Asked by: velo73
Old chains tend to elongate with use. The elongated chain wears the teeth on the cassette and chain-rings. Fitting a new chain over worn teeth, the new chain will tend to creep up the worn teeth then slip over the top.
You can try the new chain, but if it slips you will also have to change the cassette. If it still slips then also change the chain rings.

Could this chain be used for a 7 speed cassette?
I'm doing a bike up and trying to keep as many original parts as possible. It didn't have a chain but all the other parts are campagnolo. The parts are quite old, the bike is over 30 years and having always used shimano I have no idea what group set they are from. Thanks for any help.

All derailleur-equipped bikes use a chain with the same internal width (3/32") – the external widths are different: more speeds means narrower chain. These differences are quite small and from 5 to 8 speeds you can use same chains. A too wide chain could obviously cause problems and a 7 speed chain would probably not work with a 9 speed cassette, but a narrower chain will usually work with a fewer-speeds drivetrain. There is no need to take my word for it as the great Sheldon Brown himself says that you can use a 9 speed chain with a 7 or 8 speed system. It is always safest to use the components that are specific to the system in question and there are many good 6/7/8 speed chains available, but if you must have a Campagnolo chain, this will probably work.

is the campy 9sp record chain suitable for a late 90s 9sp mirage groupset?
Asked by: biigG
I can confirm that this will be compatible with your older groupset but when you change the chain you will need to change the cassette at the same time or the gears will slip. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately we do not sell a split link for Campagnolo 9 speed chains at this moment in time I'm afraid.
