Visibility

Cateye’s Ampp Front Light comes with, specialised, Opticube lens technology which offers supreme light distribution. Integrated into the design of the light is side lighting which significantly widens the beam and enhances side visibility helping you to remain seen from multiple angles.  

Durability

To protect your light from all the bumps and scrapes of the road the light comes with a robust 6063 aluminium body construction with enhanced scratch resistance. Additionally, the housing shields from adverse weather conditions with an IPX7 water rating.

Light Modes

Ready to suit the needs of any ride the light comes with multiple different light modes which can easily be switched between by using the top power button – double click for High mode, and single click returns the light to the previous mode.

High: 800 lumens – 1.5 hours

Medium: 400 lumens – 2 hours

Low: 200 lumens – 4 hours

Daytime HyperConstant: 200/800 lumens – 4 hours

Flashing: 200 lumens – 30 hours

Charging

The light comes with an internal lithium-ion battery that is USB rechargeable which filly recharges in 3-7 hours. The illuminated top power button will illuminate in red when the battery is at 20% which lets you know when it’s time to recharge the light.

Mounting

To securely and easily mount the light it comes with the FlexTight mounting bracket which is versatile and works with bars up to 35mm diameter bars and selected aero bars. The underside connection offers an easy removal for a quick release which is great for commuters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright little light. An impressive little light. Easily bright enough for dark country lanes although the beam probably isn't wide enough to use off-road. The mount is adaptable enough to put on any handlebar, but it could benefit from being able to rotate more on the mount. On full power you'll just about get 2 hours out of it but on flashing mode or lower power constant mode battery life is very good. Build quality is very good, solidly made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations I thought I wanted an 1100, but this was too good to pass at the price point. Have been really impressed. In the cold it does about an hour on full beam and a further hour on flashing so its been great for long rides leaving in the morning when its still dark.

Q & A

How can this light be mounted on aerobars

Aerobars are mentioned in the description but I am not clear how the light is mounted as aerobars run perpendicular to the handlebars. Can the mount swivel through 90' to allow this?

For future reference, I think what it means in the description is that it can be mounted to certain "aero-handlebars" with a flattened profile, in addition to traditional round handlebars. If you do want to mount it to aerobars (the sort that stick out forwards) then you could use a universal adapter (e.g. "Profile Design Universal Computer Mount For Aerobars") or if you spend some time on google there are various other options ranging from custom mounts through to bodge/hack jobs involving straps, elastic etc.

How to mount on MTB Helmet

I fancy this for my MTB, i have a more powerful light for the bars so i'd want this on my helmet. Does the product come with a helmet mount?

Pretty sure it doesnt come with one, but you can buy them separately. I have the older Volt 800 on my helmet, you can definitely feel it up there but it's not too bad.
