Latex inner tubes: Used in all high end tubular thanks to their low rolling resistance. Thinner and more flexible than butyl tubes. The use in open tubulars increases comfort and lowers rolling resistance. Latex is also more resistant to punctures.

Description

On the other hand it is a porous material therefore it requires daily inflation.

Puncture protection is also greatly improved as latex extends and expands 7 to 8 times its original size, whereas butyl only about 1.5x meaning that latex is much, much more flexible and not immediately prone to punctures. Unlike the stiffer butyl, latex will first expand and wrap itself all around a protruding object and often isn’t successful puncturing through even after working itself all the way in the tyre.

The best performance and comfort combination is the latex inner tube with a handmade clincher, although the latex tube can also improve the ride of any other type of clincher.

Replacing the standard butyl inner tubes (even superlight ones) with the Challenge seamless latex inner tube is by far the most affordable way of improving the performance and overall feel of your bike.

Customer Reviews

Challenge Superlite Corsa Latex Road Tube is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Jaguar from Don't last! Bought four of these, used two, both failed, will return the unused two as not very good! Fitted to bike, no problem. The do lose a bit of pressure, nothing out of the ordinary for a latex tube. Inflated before each ride. On both failures, I inflated the tyres, left the bike outside, grabbed the rest of my stuff, returned to the bike to find the tyre flat. Both failed where the black valve surround joins the red tube. Nothing wrong with the rim tape, been running Michelin Air Comp for years without issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Benradeon from Not worth the extra money. I will stick to buying the vittoria tubes as these can lose 10 psi on one ride. Probably OK for a 10 or 25 mile time trial.

Rated 1 out of 5 by gruffdalion from blew up and did everything correct blew 2 tubes up when hitting 80psi. did everything correct, seated well within tyres. reseated again with little pressure but still exploded. absolute waste of time and money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mikey from Light and reliable A good replacement for normal tubes to gain some weight savings and possibly a little less rolling resistance. Removeable valve core is great if you want to fit proper valve extensions for deep rims.

Q & A

How long are the valves on these tubes?

Asked by: RobSydneyAus
They measure 43mm from the base to the top of Valve without the valve core.

The Valve

How long is the valve and does it have a removable core?
Asked by: ironmandreamer
I don't believe that the Staff answer is correct. I bought 4 of these latex tubes from Wiggle some months ago. The Valve length is 43mm and the core is definitely removable. I use them with Vittoria Open Corsa tyres fitted on 50mm Carbon clinchers. My only complaint about the tubes are that they are always out of stock on Wiggle. I would gladly more more as soon as they are available.

Asked by: extester
The valves supplied should now be a standard 42 mm in length.

Re: Challenge Superlite Corsa Latex Tubes

Will this tube fit a 28mm tyre? If not, do you have any latex tubes that can?
Asked by: dhunt50
I can confirm that this tube is for 700x23c wheels. Wiggle does not stock any latex tubes for 28mm tyres.
