    Description

If you want to get the miles in, but your streets aren't covered with the finest tarmac and you prefer the inconspicuous function of your tyres, then this is your tubular.

    DuraSkin

Tyres with DuraSkin sidewall protection have to roll with the punches. These tyres are used in the harshest conditions. On messenger bikes, on epic travel bikes crossing continents without wearing through and in professional cycling they have to endure tough tests such as Paris-Roubaix. The high-quality polyamide fabric reliably protects the casing of the tyre and protects the tyre from the worst conditions. These tyres stand out with their brown sidewalls. The slick natural rubber tread is designed to perform well in wet/wintery conditions.

    SafetySystem Breaker

The SafetySystem Breaker is made up of Kevlar reinforced, high-strength nylon fabric. Puncture and cut-resistant but nevertheless light and flexible, the tyre adjusts quickly to the surface below. Without raising the weight or rolling resistance noticeably, it protects the carcass against foreign objects and contributes to a longer lifespan of the tyre. Tyres with the SafetySystem Breaker also provide good comfort properties.

Continental Sprinter Gatorskin Tubular Tyre is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 141.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Radoi1 from Excellent hard wearing puncture resistant tyre I have used these tyres for training for about 20 years. I normally mature them in the dark for up to a year before use. They then last at least one and a half seasons without any issues. Last year covering about 3500 miles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chlopiec from strong I went through several tubular tires before, some of them made my ride more plush but non of them withstand so much of rough roads, gravel and even off-road :) This is the most durable tubular tire I've ridden.

    Q & A

Has anyone fitted these using jantex tub tape? Instructions only seems to cover conti tub glue but I find tape much easier.

    Asked by: DoctorG
Yes - used Jantex tape and both wheels still going fine after 1000+ miles. Highly recommended

Does this have a removable valve?

There are 2 conflicting answers on this question. I'm assuming it doesn't but could someone please clarify whether this tyre does, or doesn't, have a removable valve core. Thanks!
    Asked by: bamaracas
Yes, it has a removable valve.

Is this really the right picture?

If looking at contis home page, the tire on this picture seems to be the sprinter (not gatorskin sprinter). The sprinter gatorskin looks different. Reference: www.conti-online.com
    Asked by: Valdemar
You are correct, the gatorskin is not smooth as pictured. The Gatorskin tyre has a flat diamond pattern tread and red line crossed sidewall. We will update the picture shortly.

    Tubular tyre pressure guide

Hi, where is the recommended tyre pressure guide for these tyres based on rider and equipment weight and road conditions? I see the max but no guidelines for the varying factors.
    Asked by: Lesl
Recommended 115., Max. 170. I generally put mine around 140-145.

Are these tubs ever going to be back in stock - no supplier seems to have them?

    Asked by: Carbonmaff
its because they're so good and popular.

    I assume that the description of "Black 28 x 22mm" should actually be "Black 700c x 22mm"

    Asked by: Andy99
Same thing, some manufactuers still use the old imperial measurement (28) then mix it with a metric one (22mm). Seems strange but it's like buying 2 metres of 4x2" from a builders merchant. Tyre manufactures still even print the old '28' on the tyre!

    How long is the valve?

    How long is the valve?
    Asked by: adamsemple
The valve is fairly short (will fit a C24 or similar low profile rim) but with a removable core so easy to lengthen

    50mm wheels and sealants

I understand there is a similar question answered here, but lets say im running a 50mm depth wheels and use a vittoria removable valve, will i be able to inject the sealant if i get a puncture? I have never used valve extenders or sealants before so i just want to make sure i made the right purchase. And does the valve length come in any other length other than 22mm? Thanks!
    Asked by: Derrick94
We would not advise using sealant and valve extenders.
