These gel pads do work, but i think they're aimed at sweaty handed people...
I took off some cork tape to put this stuff on, and theres bugger all difference in performance because although you've put gel pads on, the tape they've given you is paper thin breathable stuff. Net effect is that its the same as cork tape. Great if you've got sweaty hands nad don't like cork tape, but not so great if all you're after is vibration reduction. Also the tape has only a tiny strip of adhesive on it so now my tape moves around my bar ever so slightly. Also the tape is only just long enough - bit stingy
My recommendation would be get some gel pads from elsewhere and some cork tape over the top. Or better yet buy a really nice bike with lots of carbon...

Fitted this to two of my bikes so far and can't rate it high enough.
Yes, it adds a touch of extra weight to your bike, but this is cancelled out by the relaxing ride it gives on the tough UK roads.
I never get tired or sore hands when out on the road now and having gone back to my old winter bike for the first time in ages I can really see how much difference this makes. Got back after a few hours and my hands were starting to cramp up.
Guess I'll have to upgrade my bar tape on the old beast soon.

Not as good as I'd hoped!
Comfy enough, looks good but falling apart after 6 weeks of riding (approx 600Km).
Not good enough in my book!

Wears out easily
I only had this bar tape on my bike for 5 months before the tape started to fall apart. It is good value considering what you get in the kit, but didn't last anywhere near as long as I would have expected. I am going to go back to a cheaper thick foam bar tape, as I think it does the same job with less weight.

pretty average
poor quality handlebar tape. decent gel pads, but still need a thicker bar tape to go with them. my last bike had double wrapped bars. that felt like a better option for less cost.

This product is great, Altough it was fine on my bike, I can see it running too short on other types of bars.

They absorb a lot of the vibrations and therefore it becomes a more conftable ride.

Expensive and poor quality
Gel pads are ok, but you get a better result with an average quality gel bar tape. The bar tape supplied is poor quality and doesn't stretch well. Overall expensive and poor value for money.

Easy to fit, not short of bar tape to complete, if I can make a good job of fitting bar tape anyone can with this pack

gel strips
found the gel strips hard to fit and not really needed, they were quite large for my handlebars, ended up not fitting top gels but fitted drop ones, overall very pleased

Good, but is it worth it?
The tape is well made and comfortable, the brushed surface provides good grip (I have used this tape previously in all weathers and found it to be hard wearing and withstands crash damage well). The backing is different to the Fizik tape I've used previously and is now moderately adhesive so it is easy to unwrap and reposition without damaging the tape - handy when wrapping the bars if your a perfectionist or not very experienced at that task.
The only problem with the tape is that there is a section at each end that is not perforated. With the increase in diameter that the gel pads provide it is easy to run out of the perforated section before you complete wrapping the bars. It's only a minor thing but it can spoil the look.
The gel is easy to position and is also moderately adhesive so it can be peeled off and repositioned too. It does tend to start coming unstuck at the edges when your wrapping the bars though, so you need to be a bit careful to ensure it's lying flat.
The gel also provides some additional width to the bars - I've got quite big hands and never considered that thicker bars would be more comfortable to hold, but I found this to be a good benefit.
The gel and tape combine to be effective at reducing road buzz. Whether it is any better than just double taping the bars is debateable (I've never tried that). That said, the gel can be reused so it maybe it pays off in the long run.

Good and comfy tape
Easy to apply and the gel pads works very fine and gives that extra comfort and reduces numbness.

Fairly easy to wind and with a nice feel
The tape is rather thin with a sued-like surface made of micro tex. It is fairly easy to wind after you have fitted the gel pads. The padding helps but I can still feel a bit numb at longer rides. I still don't know about the durability since I have only have used it for a limited time and in good weather conditions. I bit on the pricey side in my opinion.

Hard to get on and scuffed up fairly quickly
Doesn't stretch when fitting.
I spent over an hour trying (and yes I can fit bar tape).
Ended up going into my LBS and the guy in there just about got it on.
However once on it was comfy but did begin to fray after just 600 or so miles

Terrible bar tape.
Im sure the gel pads are ok, however the bar tape is very thin and offers little to no support its like electrical tape. I have felt gel bar tape on another bike and its far superior. Ive send them back, and will buy a gel bar tape and gel pads separately.

Bit disappointed
I bought this to replace some old Specialised tape...to be honest I found the backing tape hard to peel off..it kept braking..and the tape amongst the hardest I've had to apply..it is extremely thin, so in conjunction with the bar Gell gave me about the same thickness and protection as the specialised tape did, I've actually kept some of the less used parts of the old tape back and plan to put it under the hood area to get some extra thickness there... On the plus side the tape feels grippy.

More comfortable bars
Good product and the gel pads were easy to adjust to fit. The instructions regarding wrapping the handle bars were poor and You Tube helped with this. The ride since using the gel pads has been much more comfortable.

Not quite as thick as some gel pads
Not quite as thick as some gel pads available but they work well enough.
Bar tape is good quality and went on easily. Tape strip to finish it off is a bit short & not very sticky, hence an extra wrap of electrical tape is needed to secure the bar tape.

Buy Cheaper
I know it's my first time wrapping bars, but the tape wasn't particularly helpful. The gel pads supplied are far too big, and needed a lot of cutting, and the tape doesn't stretch enough for a properly tight wrap. Not impressed. Buying Cinelli cork ribbon next time.

Pads okay, tape poor
Along with some other reviewers I find that the tape is a little too
flimsy. This means that it doesn't provide as much shock-absorbing
as other tapes, and also doesn't last as long (you might not get
much more than a couple of months if you are riding frequently).
The pads are okay, although not exceptional.

All you need for comfort
Gel and tape easy to fit.Really comfortable and good looking. The Tape is almost self amalgamating.Sticks to its self.

Bar Tape
I ditched my "grab ons" for this tape. It does the job but I found it difficult to fit, I had to have several goes. To be honest I have yet to find a bar tape I really like, this one is no exception. In use it looks ok and is comfortable the Fizik end tape to finish off the lay is rubbish and I had to use insulating tape on one bar, on the other I'm trying self amalgamating tape. The jury is out but I don't think you can rely on the Fizik tape

Easy to use
This kit was very easy to use and looked great when done. The gel pads were of good quality that helped add comfort and relieved the problem I was experiencing with nerve pain

The tape gives that small amount of support required to tak out the bumps of an uneven road surface.

Comfortable

Quality and comfortable.
Took a while for me to fit the gel inserts and tape to my bars but when finished I was very happy as the tape has a high quality feel and the gel inserts work well to absorb road buzz.

Great tape, awkward pads
Greatbar tape.
Found the pads awkward to fit and as such never used them.
