The Focus Mares has received a make over for 2010, Focus have 'beefed' up the front end to withstand the rigours of cross riding by using a 'Tapered' head tube. This features a 1 1/8" steerer at the top which tapers into 1 1/4" at the crown, resulting in a frame which responds directly to your every command.
The usual top routed cables allow the frame to be shouldered when needed and keeps the brakes and gears running smoothly. The frame is finished in a tough white powder-coated finish, which helps to withstand the rigours of cross riding. FOCUS bikes will not always be treated well, but they should look as good after the hardest tour as they did on their first day. Every frame is electrostatically charged and spray-coated with a special powdered varnish that is extremely tough and hard-wearing. Once cured the resultant finish has enormous mechanical strength as well as the very highest scratch- and shock-resistance.
The specification remains high for 2010 with Shimano's 105 components being used in abundance, 105 components offer exceptional pound for pound performance and are the ideal choice for a cross bike due to its durable nature. Truvativ's Elita chainset is combined with a Truvativ external bottom bracket to transfer your power to the wheels, the 48/34 chain ring combination matched to a wide ratio 12-27 cassette provide you with the perfect range of gears to get up and down hills or over most obstacles.
Focus have chosen FSA's oversized OS190 stem and matched it to a pair of their Vero Comp RD320 bars, then provided you with a pair of cross top brake levers to provide as much control as possible when navigating technical sections or urban traffic. Both brake levers control a pair of Prime Canti2C Race brakes, which pull up the Pro Lite Como Wheelset with minimal effort. The whole package is then rounded off perfectly with a pair of 35mm wide Continental Cross Race tyres and Concept Extreme seat post with a Concept SL saddle.
Please note: This bike is not as pictured. This bike has been used for demonstration / test ride purposes. There will be no structural damage to the bike, but it will have VERY minimal wear to the drivetrain and contact points, may have small scratches/marks on the bike and, although the bike has been cleaned, there could be evidence of road riding/dirt on the tyres and rest of bike.
