Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit I don't know what Hope are thinking here. The two collars fit inside the inner race and effectively increase the width of the inner race by about 3mm. These sit on the splined end of the shaft of the crank against the 22mm to 24mm shoulder. The increased virtual width of the bearing means that the non-drive side crank arm does not engage fully on the splines as it should. Because the splines are slightly tapered it means that, when the end nut inside the crank arm is done up, there is play between the crank arm and splines which eventually causes wear or the loosening of the crank arm. I gave up with the whole thing in the end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Converted my Hollowtech II BB to GXP Converts any BB using 22 mm spindles (e.g. Shimano Hollowtech II, Hope, etc) to GXP (which has a 22 mm drive-side spindle and 20 mm non-drive-side spindle). The instructions say to press one of the shims into each side of the non-drive-side bearing; however for my Hollowtech II BB, I found this put the non-drive-side crank too far outboard as a result of the lip on the shims. This resulted in an asymmetric q-factor (by about 3 mm). I instead only used the inner shim, which kept the cranks an equal distance from the BB-center and thus a symmetric q-factor. Installation is easy - the shims are well made and with a thin layer of grease they tapped in easily and squarely. A little pricey for 2 small shims, but preferable to replacing the entire bottom bracket (especially if you have a decent one), and they are at least good quality.
