Description

The Hutchinson Sector Tubeless Road Tyre was developed to improve performance when racing the cobbled Paris-Roubaix Classic. The Sector tyre therefore performs to an excellent level on any section of rough road. The Sector's tyre profile is very rounded with a slick section on top and grooved tread sidewalls. The Sector does require Protect’Air MAX latex sealant to be air tight, but this reduces the rolling inertia of the wheel and also reduces the chances of getting a puncture on rough roads.

If you are looking for a robust tubeless option to race, train or adventure on the Sector will give you the confidence to power through tough terrain.

Customer Reviews

Hutchinson Sector Tubeless Road Tyre is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 2 out of 5 by APhyclist from Limited to no grip, especailly when wet Fitted as a tubeless tire with little problem. But grip is poor, especially when wet, wouldn't want to be forced to stop from high speed using this tire.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anonymous from Poor Tubeless tyre. Not in my opinion. Spent a good few unsuccessful hours trying to get it to seat. Eventually gave up and fitted a tube. The tyre is advertised as suitable for Paris Roubaix the spring classic. I wouldn't feel confident doing it on this tyre. Not after trying it on the mildly moist autumn roads of the UK. I felt like Bambi on ice. Loosing traction after putting down even the smallest amount of power and having the feeling that the front wheel is going to go from under me on every bend. I would not recommend this tyre. Another expensive lesson

Rated 4 out of 5 by svezel from Excellent all round tubeless tyres I had already tried Fusion 5 performance TL tires but they turned out to be too fragile for the roads I ride so I decided to go for the Sectors in 32c despite the mixed reviews. First off they were very easy to fit as I could easily mount them with my hands and pump them up using my normal track pump. After about 24hours they were fully set and will only loose a couple of PSI per day so I only have to inflate them about a once a week. I've ridden them about 350km so far and they have performed well and at 70psi they absorb most normal bumps yet roll well. Wet grip isn't the best but I tend to ride carefully in the rain and have only had one small scare on a roundabout which is always slippery in the wet. Dry grip is excellent and at 32c they easily handle some light gravel and packed mud. All in all I'd recommend these for people looking for good all round tires with great puncture protection. Obviously there are faster tyres out there but at this durability I'd say these are probably as good as it gets without getting too heavy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Cooljase from Mediocre Context: These were my second foray into road tubeless, after a pair of Mavic Yksion Pro UST which lasted - shockingly - less than 5,000 km before the rear was completely worn through. Those Mavics felt wonderful to ride, like a magic carpet ride, but that lack of durability made them completely impractical for my desired use on a steel commuting/audax bike. Hence the move to something reputed to be a bit tougher. I ride 23mm tyres on my lighter carbon bike, so therefore have no need to go narrow, and when I saw the 32mm Hutchinsons were discounted on Wiggle, I thought I'd give them a whirl. So, how are they? Well, firstly, they were easy to fit: meaning both that the 32mm width goes fine on my frame (which I think is rated to take 28s as a max) and within my (wide) mudguards but also the anticipated agony of forcing them on the (Mavic Aksium) rims never materialised: did it all by hand, and inflated them both with a regular floor pump (valve cores removed) without drama. This could be their best feature. Ride quality: on dry roads they feel a bit hard and stiff, nothing like as luxurious as the Yksions, but with adequate grip at commuting speeds. But as others have noted, on wet roads these tyres will want to slip away from under you at any opportunity. If there's wet ironworks on a corner, watch out!! I lost the front wheel twice in the first week, but was going slowly, so didn't come off. Durability: I'm only 500km in so far (early March 2020, after floods which have dumped loads of muck on the roads) with one puncture to a sidewall which the sealant plugged after about 5 minutes of pumping but visually they don't appear as scarred as, say, my old Gatorskins would have looked by now. Pressure: they definitely ride better at very low pressures (less than 80psi). Verdict: so far they appear to be not particularly great at anything but will perhaps turn out to be quite durable. Grip in the wet is a real problem.
