    With a sleek and contemporary design Isadore's Merino Membrane Softshell Jacket combines aesthetics with the highest level of comfort and functionality. A wind and water proof membrane has been included on the outside and finest Merino wool fibres on the inside ensuring it is soft and comfortable to wear whilst being highly practical.

    Isadore have designed this softshell jacket for everyone who enjoys riding in the colder months and needs to be prepared to handle alternating periods of heavy perspiration during vigorous exercise and freezing cold during the breaks. The selection of materials and highly elastic cut gives this jacket wide range of use between temperatures close to sub zero up to +15 °C.
    All depends on how many layers you choose to apply underneath this jacket.

    A new generation YKK AquaGuard Vislon zip has been included at the front and on the back pocket, this is 100% waterproof and versatile enough for easy manipulation. An optional lower back extension can be elegantly hidden when not needed and easy to apply once the road gets wet.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the investment I have already used this is a couple of different ways - to keep me warm after riding to the top of Mont Ventoux, in chilly conditions and now in wet, cold conditions (squally rain a four degrees centigrade). The top worked very well each time, keeping me warm with only one base layer. Also keeps pretty dry although it doesn’t seem 100% waterproof - or is that just me getting warm inside? It’s not cheap, but exudes quality, and is worth the price tag : it’s the first thing I reach for when the temperature drops

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stylish and unique, but doesn't live up to billing Returned this for a refund after getting soaked through on a sub 2hr ride in persistent but not heavy rain. It is OK in the dry, but not particularly breathable therefore tends to get wet on the inside if you're doing a decent tempo. I don't know where the membrane thing comes from as mine seemed to have no waterproof qualities whatsoever. Kudos to Wiggle who refunded without quibble, and I do have other Isadore clothing which I do like.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! The best jacket I have ever used I am a massive fan of Isadore, and am doing my best to accumulate a large collection. I have (or have had) winter jackets from Assos, Sportful, Castelli, all of which are good at some things. The Isadore jacket has become my favourite by far- it handles the widest range of conditions, and is supremely comfortable with lots of useful features. I have used it down to about 0-1 degrees, with just a long sleeved/high neck baselayer, and up into double figures with a short sleeved (Isadore) merino baselayer. It seems to wick sweat very effectively, and has really useful vents on the chest and below the arms. It has an unconventional rear pocket layout, with a standard pocket on the left, and a large zipped pocket where the other 2 pockets would normally be. Inside there are 2 smaller dividers for phone, tools, etc, and the zipped area gives useful storage for larger items. There is also a small zipped pocket at the right hip which is handy for keys, money, etc. There is a drop down tail flap for wet conditions. I haven't used it in heavy rain but it seems to keep most of the rain out, and would be fine for an hour or two. I bought the Marsala colour, which is a sort of faded red. I really like it, it's unusual and a bit retro. I have been able to use it for several rides between washes with absolutely no trace of any smells! Presumably due to the use of merino. The only minor downside is the popper behind the zip which stops the jacket from opening too far with the zip undone. I never really use this feature, and the popper on the flap behind the zip is too close to the teeth of the zip, so it catches on the zipper when you move the zipper up and down. I'm worried that it might eventually damage the zip, so I'm considering cutting out the popper, which seems a shame on such a high quality, well thought-out piece of kit. Thoroughly recommended.

I have only managed to wear this jacket a few times, but those rides have covered all the weather of the Scottish Highlands in November. On a 95km ride in -3°C temp, my fingers frozen, but my body temperature always felt comfortable with just a couple of baselayers under the jacket. The next ride was 110km in slightly warmer conditions, with blasts of rains, warm sunshine and hellish winds.. again with just a couple of baselayers underneath, i felt fine. There are zip vents to allow air to circulate when it get a bit warm. When it rained, you do get wet but the fabric didn't get waterlogged or make me freeze. I imagine it will not be the best item for torrential rain over prolonged periods - but i don't think any jacket can withstand hours of rain. The back pockets are substantial - with one open and the other two under a zip enclosure which is big enough to easily hold a small pump (vertically or horizontal) plus whatever else you want to keep there - phone, valuables, gels, etc. there is also a nifty side zip pocket which is great for keys. I am 170cm, 60kg and the Small size is perfect, snug with a bit of stretch. At about £200 it is expensive - but like all other Isadore products i have purchase and used - it feels like this will last for years and functions better than any other winter jacket i've experimented with.
