Fits 7-speed SRAM cassette
I bought this chain to replace the one that came on my MTB. I bought it together with a SRAM 7-speed cassette.
The chain is very well made, has done around 2,000 miles and still going strong, with little wear.
The quicklink can be undone by hand even to this day.
The advantage of a quick-link for maintenance purposes guarantees a longer service life.

Fitted this to my old Clockwork and it shifts as well as the last chain that was twice the price.
Great quality, great price, easy to fit and with the added benefit of easy maintanance.
Wont be bothering with Shimano chains in the future.

i was looking for a cheap chain with a quick-link and these fit the bill. No problems shortening the chain, fitting it or since. Has worked well

Exeptional value.Having previously bought and used both Sram and Shimano (both good products) in comparison the KMC chain seemed cheap giving concern to quality. However reading numerous reveiws i decided to take a chance. My concerns were soon to be dissmissed on arrival, fitting and using. This product is of very good quality, easy to fit and so far proving reliable.Highly recommend this chain and manufacturer, again exceptional value.
4 given for perfomance as still assessing

Swapped over a very worn KMC chain and Shimano cassette with this an difference was immeadiate...previous KMC chain had done some serious k's on my commuter and so KMC was first choice again!

quality is higher than price suggests
My (not so) old chain was jumping so I bought this. The quality is higher than the price suggests. It comes with an easily removable join link but, since you will need a chain link removal tool to make the new chain the same length as the old one, you can choose whether to use this or simply join the ends using your chain tool.
No more jumping. The new chain has cured the problem.

Feels a world of difference to my last chain. Really smooth. Impressed given the price.

Seems to be a good quality chain. Read good things and fitted well. Nice quick link method. Had to take out several links to fit properly but I expected this. Nice coating already on the chain but I added some Teflon spray to it and the cassette. I've used Teflon spray in the past and it's great. Would recommend this brand to anyone

It worth the money
It was the first time when I changed my chain. It was easy to apply the new one because of the quick link which is included. Now, the transmission works smoothly, the tension is great, my bike reacts quicker.

Good value chain
I use KMC chains for my tourer, tandem and eight speed rigs. They last forever and kmc's quick link connector is very easy to use.

Long lasting and top quality
This is my default chain for my daily commute. I ride about 5000 miles a year, and if kept clean, I only need a couple of these a year. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Good chain but difficult to remove
Great chain, comes with snap link which I foolishly did up without theading the chain through the derailure. You "need" a special tool to undo the snaplink, it just pops out of pliers. I ended threading a bit of wire through the snap link and twisting it tight to release it. The worked a treat.

I needed a chain to replace the original one that came with my bike 6 months after buying it.
This chain fitter perfectly after a few links are removed and the speed chain link makes it easy to fit and remove for cleaning,
Great product which was better quality then the one that came with the bike,
Perfect replacement chain & makes the gear changing smoother,
Very impressed for such a cheap chain

ideal for tandems
Designed not to stretch under heavy loads so ideal for tandem cross over drives. You will need to buy three of these and join the left chain with two links as one chain will not be long enough. I am hoping that adjustment of the eccentric bottom bracket will be minimised but time will tell. Good quality at the price point and gear changing on a mega range cassette is smooth.

Great value for single speed or hub gears
I couldn't say about derailleurs, but for single speed or hub gears this chain is ideal. It's cheap, comes with a quick link and works well.
Other reviews mention that it wore out quickly, well, I get this same chain every time and I can't say I've noticed any of them wear out particularly quickly, but maybe a more expensive chain would last longer.

Not wearing well
Seems like good quality but, is 0.75% worn since being fitted earlier this year.

Smooth running and easy to fit
No trouble shortening this chain, and very easy to join using the supplied connecting link. Runs and shifts smoothly on a 7 speed cassette. Has had a few soakings in rain and there is no sign of any corrosion so far.

Can't find a reason not to use KMC chains
Never had a failure, easy to work with, versatile, smooth shifting, includes a master link. No nonsense.
I like: 1) that they come in all price ranges so I can get a pretty and fancy chain but I can also get a good looking quality chain I can afford to change often in order to protect expensive cassettes and chainrings. 2) That they emphasize strength and durability and their fancy features don't sacrifice those two. 3) That they make a lot of the re-branded quality chains so you know KMC know how to do this.

Does the job
A reliable and smooth-working chain which has been in regular use since late June in all weathers, still going strong.

Mid budget chain that does the job
Bought as a replacement for the original chain as supplied with MTB. Gears shift okay, seems reasonable value for money especially as mountain bikes eat chains.

This is the first x8 chain I have bought, but I have used the X9 on my commuting bike for several years. I got this for a spare bike we have. It was just as easy to install, and seems to be just as rugged. KMC chains are all easy to install and last quite well. They fit as describe and I hve never had a problem with them on either Campy or Shimano set-ups.

good quality chain
A good quality, nice looking chain. Feels strong. Quiet running and smooth gear changing. Very easy to fit with the special quick link.
22 June 2015
This is in fact a chain, and it works as a chain. I suppose the quick link is a plus, so far absolutely no trouble.

I love these chains
These chains are attractive, durable and reasonably priced. Definitely worth the extra over cheaper ones.

Easy to fit, suffered chain suck
I like the quick connector link. Unfortunately, once fitted the new chain had a lot of chain suck. I expect my worn chain rings were to blame. After maybe 50 miles, the suck wore off, but the chain still slips occasionally. Probably should have replaced the whole drive train but couldn't face it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the chain, and the fitting mechanism beats the Shimano.

Best chain for winter riding
I got this chain for the winter road bike and it is perfect for the road grime during the winter.
21 February 2015
Good chain, easy to fit
Good chain, easy to fit, nice almost silent gear changing.
22 September 2014
Recommended by my mechanic, does what I need it to
Easy to fit, remove and re-fit. Does exactly what I need of a chain.
03 June 2014
Nothing much to say. Does it's job, nice quality chain with KMC link connector for fast and easy installation.
10 April 2014
It's a chain.
Pretty good, seems to have a little less tendency to stretch than the HG40 and HG50 chains I used to get.

Sorry for the long winded question but I'm quite confused. I own a felt x-city 2 which has is an internal hub system (Shimano Nexus) on a Shimano Nexus 20t CP freewheel.
The chain that came with it was a KMC narrow type (going by whats on the chain), anyway, that wore out quickly. The shop I bought it off had trouble sourcing a replacement chain. Settled on a Yaban BMX freestyle track. This is ok but does not run that smoothly so am after something else.
This chain is a 1/2" x 3/32" so the X8-93 seems like it should be suitable or am I missing something?
Alternatively if there's another suitable chain stocked by wiggle I'd be happy to give it a go.

A 8 speed chain will fit a 7 and 8 speed bike. they will NOT fit a 9 or a 10 speed bike as they use thinner chains. A X/93 chain has every other link nickel coated. a X/99 chain has every link nickel coated. I use X/93 chains.

Well, you get what you pay for. The only visible difference is that 8.93 has silvery sideplates and grey inner links while 8.99 is all silvery. Unsure if this translates to greater durability or is purely cosmetic. However, both of them will certainly work with the HG40 cassette which is of middling quality in Shimano's range. The difference between HG30 and HG 80 is in material, construction, surface finish and weight. All deraiileur chains for any number of speeds are 3/32inch between outer plates with the exception of one failed Shimano experiment in 10 speed Dura Ace chain. All chains for 6/7/8 speed are around 7.1mm measured across the link pins while 9 speed chains are around 6.5mm on account of the narrower cog spacing in the 9 speed cassette. The 9 speed chains achieve the narrowness with thinner outer plates and shorter pins. Trust the chain manufacturer. If it's a reputable name and it's marked 8 speed it will work with a 6/7/8 speed cassette.
