Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality, disappointed as not really cheap I wanted a good set of Allen Keys for home use. In general the set is good, however the 5mm had a minor defect so that it would not fit perfectly in allen bolts of this dimension. Fortunately, I already have a high quality 5mm allen key and was buying this et mainly for the other sizes, so I threw the faulty 5mm away and just use the rest. Obviously though, a customer doesn't buy a set of allen keys to throw away the most poular one. I'm very unhappy with this, but simply couldn't be bothered to go through the returns process with Wiggle as I already had a functioning 5mm allen key. I would recommend anyone considering this set of tools to proceed with caution.

what's the purpose of the ball end on these Allen keys?

I can advise the advantage is that their ball end make it easier to slide the wrench into the receiving slot. You can reach in at an angle and feel your way to the needed drop-in position faster. Good for blind or inaccessible places I hope this helps.
