Description

The Lizard Skins Rear Suspension Boot covers the seal and body with soft, tough Powertex neoprene. They keep dust, mud and grit in wet conditions, preventing seal wear and improving performance. Easily removed for cleaning, they simply wrap around most standard air and coil shocks, and can be trimmed to fit.

Suits coil springs better than piston shock design I've bought several of these products over the years to fit on my piston rear shock for the dual shock MTB's. I've cut them down to the various lengths as is designed. I've also cut a small hole for the air valve socket to fit through. However, in all fittings, I've found that because the design is a cylinder in shape, it doesn't fit as well on the conic shape of the piston shock. The tapering at the narrow end will often leave an ill fitting gap that doesn't quite prevent mud/water from entering. However, some protection is still better than none.In future, it would be better if they could make a conic shaped boot protector for piston shocks as well. 15 August 2013
Lizards Skins Does exactly what it says on the tin though it did stretching a lot to get it over the unit. It was also sllightly too long which meant I could cut an inch off and use that to wrap around the head set to protect that a bit! Experience says they last a long time (this one is for my second bike) 21 December 2010
Skin is flat and inst ribbed (doesnt look like picture) so doesnt squash with suspension travel. Also doesnt fit arroung widest part of shock so had to cut down to fit it over the narrower section and piston arm, this limits the amount of Crud that it catches which can get in behind the skin! Its ok and does help keep the important part of the shock clean, but its not brilliant for my shock anyway! Fox Float RP23 XV BoostValve 25 February 2010
Holds water I bought this for an 08 Specialized XC Pro as the shock is exposed at the back. The problem is that it retains water and removes the oil of the shock as it is compressed. I ended up with a squeaky shock. Removed it and all was fine! Since fitted a mudguard to deflect from it. 19 February 2010
