Description

Orca's new Kaisei wetsuit combines a light, flexible neoprene with a host of key features to make it the ideal wetsuit for those taking their first steps into triathlon and open water swimming. Constructed from a durable, flexible, water-resistant, smoothskin neoprene, the Kaisei provides excellent buoyancy and thermal protection. Those unfamiliar with wetsuit swimming will appreciate the features that only a few years ago were present in intermediate level wetsuits. The 5mm HydroLift body panels on the front and back will help with body position in the water, while the 2mm QuadraFlex underarm panel and DeltaStretch shoulder panel help provide an excellent range of motion.

PROJECT KAISEI - CLEARING UP THE GREAT PLASTIC GARBAGE PATCH: In early 2009, Orca partnered with Project Kaisei - a group committed to raising awareness of the damage the world's discarded plastics are doing to our oceans and marine life. Orca is supporting Project Kaisei's expeditions to an area in the Pacific, roughly twice the size of Texas, where through a quirk of ocean currents, huge volumes of plastic and debris accumulates. We are also making changes to how we operate as a business and to raise awareness of the issue and Project Kaisei through our networks. "Kaisei" means "Ocean Planet" in Japanese and is the name of Project Kaisei's main expedition ship. By purchasing an Orca Kaisei wetsuit you are directly supporting Project Kaisei.

Orca Men's Kaisei Wetsuit 4.4 5 247 247
Best splits from Water Got the chance to wear the swim suit in an Olympic Distance. As soon as I hit the water I felt more boyant. I felt like I was going faster and the time was my best for the 1500m. For an entry level suit for a person who usually can't wait to get out of the water I find myself looking forward to getting back in the water. Very happy with the purchase. 16 April 2011
Worth every penny excellent buy, it fits perfectly looks good and quality is amazing for the price 15 May 2012
Superb Orca Wetsuit This wetsuit is superb and assists your swim by keeping you afloat in the water. I compete in Triathlon and this suit is ideal for that purpose. Arms and legs are not restricted in any way and swimming in open water seems to take less effort than no suit at all. Great fit and looks good as well. 19 April 2012
Great wetsuit! Good fit (size MT for 6' and 69kg)... improved my swim time by 8 minutes over 1500m and is very warm, comfortable and buoyant. Most of all: great price and great value for a beginner triathlete with a low budget! 15 April 2012

How Fragile is the Orca Kaisei Wetsuit

Reading some of the reviews I've notice a couple gripes about "quality" and "fragility". Is there truth to theses comments, are they so fragile that they can be ripped just by putting them on? I'm new to this and I do a handfull of open water swims a year so I'd like something that can last a couple of years or more.

Answer:
Yes the wetsuit is durable but as with all wetsuits you need to be careful not to puncture or cut the neoprene with your nails. The best method is to use a plastic bag over your feet and hands as it prevents your nails digging in or catching. Reviews tend to focus on problems or issues that people have, which is fine as it reflects people experiences, but these suits are no more fragile than any other. All wet suits require care by the user when putting on or taking off.

Size help please.......

My height is 185.5cm, weight 81kg and chest size is 110cm. My weight can go down a bit by a couple kilos but won't go up. It seems I have an odd size combo of height, chest, and weight. Any suggestions?

I would think a size 8 would be alright as these are designed to be a snug fit and this suit will give you the correct amount of buoyancy.

Looking at an entry level swimming wetsuit and just want to know what are the major differences between the ORCA's Mens Kaisei and the S2 wetsuits?

Answer:
Looking at the materials used, kaisei seems almost identical to the s2. On S3, the top of the shoulders are smoothskin, while s2 and kaisei both use deltastretch.
There are also differences in the lower arm panels where s2 and kaisei are alike while s3 differs.

The lower price also indicates cheaper materials are used in kaisei than in the s3.

I think the kaisei is a step back from s3, closer to s2. It kaisei is a successor to s3, it ought to mean s3 was a failure since orca chooses to use the older design, right?

Which one is really better, I don't have the knowledge to determine. I would guess lower resistance in the top-shoulder area is important, which puts s3 before both s2 and kaisei. On the contrary, if smoothskin is inhibiting shoulder movement, kaisei may be a better choice.

With that said, I think I'd be satisfied with either one of them. I'm probably getting one of them too :)

Answer:
I've used the S2 and looking at the pictures of the Kaisei, I would say that the design and area mix of materials are rather similar. Difference seems to be in the material used in the central zones, probably they have gotten an udpated version.

Maybe you can get a better idea looking at the S3 vs S2, I understand that the Kaisei is in line with S3 features and materials.

Answer:
The Kaisei wetsuit is the successor to the S2 and S3 wetsuits. The features are the much the same but the Kaisei does feature smoothskin neoprene which provides less resistance in the water. You would also be supporting the Kaisei charity by purchasing a Kaisei wetsuit.

Answer:
people will say MT probably. But wait until you lose the weight then buy one.i'm chest 39" had choice of 6,7,or MT,in the end i chose 6 and it fits like a glove.personally i have a belly and it squeezed in there too,so my advice would be see where your measurements are whilst dieting then choose closest to chest measurement if it dosen't fit send it back and get next one up(my friend had a too tight one around chest and it split)hope it helps, brilliant suit for cost though

I would suggest the size 8 for the best fit, however you may find it is a little long and you may have to trim the arms and legs down a tiny bit.

Your need to check your chest, weight & height size on the chart on the wetsuit page on wiggle but a size 8 is probably very close, but double check to make sure before you purchase

Answer:
You could wear the size 8, it would be ideal for your height and give you a little room in your chest but you might find it tight because you are into the size 9 weight bracket. Size 9 will be a little loose because you are in the size 8 for height and chest size.
