very accurate chain gauge, cant fault it on that although it is a bit of a shame that it told me my entire drivetrain is worn out :(
yes it is expensive and there are cheaper alternatives, but it is worth paying top whack for decent kit, especially kit that will help you save a bit in the long run

Check chain wear in seconds.
Easy to use and takes literally a couple of seconds to check the chain stretch. Very handy tool that could potentially save you big money.

Useless piece of equipment
This chain checker is totally useless on Campag 11s chains. Why, the instructions say to place the pin inside the chain, however the pin is too large to fit inside a 11s chain. This fact should be stated by Wiggle on the site.

Great product couldn't be easier to use.
Received this yesterday and used it last night couldn't believe how easy to use. Confirmed what I thought that one chain needs to changing, tried it on my other bikes and it told me all the other chains are okay.
Takes the guess work out of when to replace your chain.

Very easy to use and essential for every cyclist. Chain wear is such a small tolerance that this tool is essential to ensure trouble free cycling. It will pay for itself time and time again. Very good built quality.

High quality tool easy to use.
Bought this after LBS suggested my chain was knackered. Very easy to Ouse, usual high quality engineering from Park. Only occasional use but piece of mind knowing that I can check chain wear and replace it before whole drivetrain is wears out.

Usual excellent Wiggle service.

Simple to use. No fuss.
I'd advise getting some polystyrene to protect the pins - just for longevity.

Good tool, but can be misleading
Checking chain wear can save a fortune in preventing more expensive drive train replacement, so I bought this tool. On the face of it, it is better than the simple "go-no go" cheaper tool, but can give false readings. The way it works is to adjust the moving pin to give a stretch value but it is imperative to ensure the two pins are seated against the same side of the chain. The tool tends to work across the diagonal which gives a false reading indicating excessive chain wear. With this knowledge it works OK but needs a soft touch to ensure the measurement is true. I nearly bought a new chain to replace a perfectly good one that had only done 1000km due to the false reading. Good job I double checked and realised the way that the tool must be used.

Does exactly what you want it to. Sturdy. Very easy to use. No complaints. Would recommend to anyone to easily know when is a good time to change your chain.

Accurate and simple to use
A chain checker is an essential part of any cyclist's tool kit. Cheaper to replace a worn chain before it wrecks the cluster than have to always do both. This Park tool is accurate and very easy to use

Does what it is supposed to
Solid tool that is easy to use and will prolong the life of your drivetrain.

Every cyclist should have one of these
If you aren't checking your chain wear regulalrly you will be wasting money replacing more expensive parts unnecessarily.
Buy one of these tools, use it and replace your chain before it wears your cassette or front rings out.

Does what it says on the tin
My chain is 2700 miles old so having read around about chain life, I was considering replacing it. I thought it would be good to check the chain first to see how it is doing. I bought this tool based on the high level of positive feedback. I found it very easy to use and it told me what I needed to know within seconds (my chain 0.5% worn, so good for a few more miles yet). It's quite expensive but has a solid quality feel so it'll only get replaced if I lose it.

Very accurate tool
Necessary tool for all bikers, to know when to replace the chain.

Solid construction - easy to use
Like all Park Tool devices I have used so far, this chain checker is of solid construction. Included directions were to clear and to the point. Makes checking the wear on bicycle chain very easy and precise.

Seems accurate, needs good eyesight to see numbers!

Can be scary....
I never check my chains. I know I should but I never have. That said, I now do far more miles than I used to so suspecting I was probably due a chain after 4,500 miles I bought one of these. Probably just as well given that a chain should be changed when it is 0.75% stretched. Mine was nearly at 1.0%. Oops! That'll be why my previously silky changes are all over the place then no matter how much I fiddle....
This is a quality item and is very easy to use and read. Buy one and scare yourself!
Good job I bought a chain at the same time.......

Simple but accurate
I find this tool the best for its simplicity and accuracy.
14 July 2015

Well made and easy to use
Upon receiving of this item, I was impressed with the quality of it. Like all Park Tool equipment, this meets what you would expect from the company.
Made of a nice solid piece of aluminum with the lever having a nice solid feel and easy to read numbers on the dial, it is very easy to use.
This is a tool that should last forever and is a must to protect your components from a stretched chain.
06 July 2015
easy to use, basic and solid tool. does the job without problem.
06 July 2015
This is an easy to use device that simplifies checking a chain. There are cheaper options but this one is well made and should last.

I bought this chain checker, and cant seem to insert the two ends between the links of my chain, because the distance between the two pins of the tool is too long.
I have a 11 speed ultegra chain, only done about 1000kms.
Not sure if it doesn't fit because: 1. The tool was damaged/faulty - the pin on the black slider isn't perfectly perpendicular, but at a slight angle. Is that meant to be the case? The packaging looked to be in good condition. 2. My chain is incompatible - but I can't think of why this would be the case. 3. I'm using the tool incorrectly - But I am setting the adjuster to zero, and it still doesn't fit.
