Park Tool Park Tool Emergency Tyre Boot Patch
Don't leave home without one
I have finally had chance to use this product. After hitting a dirty big pot hole at 50kph coming down a hill here in the Philippines, bursting the front tyre and leaving a 10mm tear on the tread. On that day I was 70km into a 300km solo ride.
Although, the tyre had done 2000km the tyre boot has give me confidence to get more km out of the tyre and have now done another 1500km with it in place.

I recently blew out the sidewall on a race tyre going over a cattle grid...lucky I had one of these patches in my pocket. Absolute God-send.

does what it says...
Its a tyre patch so I can't get too excited but having split a tyre recently I did use one of my mates boot patch, and it worked well so I have bought these to replace his.

Useful piece of kit
You never know when this might come in handy. Very small and unobtrusive so easy find space for in your saddle bag!

Only 5 stars allowed ...
... but I rate this as higher!
On at least 3 occasions these have saved my bacon when a tyre wall fails. Simplicity itself to apply, sticks like smelly brown stuff to a blanket and allows tyre inflation to normal pressure to get me home. I can't comment on the longevity as all blown tyres are bin-fodder after I arrive home.
Unreservedly recommended as a 'get me home' essential for cyclist who don't like walking.

I have carried these around for years without ever needing to use them. I stopped to fix a flat on a recent Audax only to find a 2cm split in the side wall of the tyre. I stuck the boot on, a new tube and rode another 50 miles to the end, given the cost/ weight they're a useful addition to your puncture/ tool kit.

Saved my tire from a big rusty nail no sealant could handle and enabled me to continue with my ride.

Brilliantly, saved the day when sidewall burst
This worked very well to hold together a burst and split sidewall on a road-bike tyre at the furthest point of a long ride.

Simple effective repair solution
Carry a few of them as they are neatly packaged and unobtrusive. My friends always need them more than me :-)

A must have for winter
Great to carry these in the winter. If your tyre wall get slashed, these will get you home, safe and sound.

Absolute must for your saddlebag/tool bottle
Have carried these for a couple of years on commutes/longer rides without having to need it, however yesterday on leaving work I had a puncture caused by a sizeable tear in the top of the tyre.
Simple to use, fixed well to cover the hole and got me home with no problems, given I have nursery and school pick up for the kids it was a massive saver ! Definately carry these with you

For the saddlebag
This is something I hope never to have to use! In the event of a split tyre this could be a life saver & get you home safely.
Weighs next to nothing & weighs not much

No need to throw away a split Tyre. I have patched a new Tyre split by glass after little use , As the damage was to the side of the tread I wasn't happy to ride on the road at speed but have fitted this to my turbo trainer wheel..After many sessions the result is very good. The other two will go into saddle bags if needed to get me home.

Has saved me and clubmates a few times
Worth keeping a couple of these in your saddle bag in case you ever split a tyre on the road. Have used them a few times for myself and others over the last few years, and they've been the difference between cycling and walking home!

first things first - I haven't actually used this product yet, but I wish I had known about it before I burst my front tyre on a stone. I always carry 2 spare inner tubes, and my original was totalled. The first spare went in but bubbled out the hole in the sidewall of my tyre and also burst. Down to my last intact tube, I had to pressure up to around 20psi (just at the stage when the inner tube was trying to push through teh hole in the tyre) and then cycle like a grandma for mils to the nearest train station to get home. I had old ladies on shopping bikes overtake my Pinarello - not a happy place - but I wanted to protect my rims form damage. I thought that I would have to figure out a way to carry a spare tyre with me (apart from teh one I already wear), but this looks like teh perfect solution. So, only 4 stars because I haven't actually tested it yet, but it looks like just eth ticket to get me home if this ever happens again to me. .

Excellent but not needed yet!
I have used this product previously and been satisfied. So far, and long may it continue, I have not needed to open the packet. When, and if I do, I am certain that I will be satisfied.

A cheap effective insurance
These patches sat in my saddle bag for months untill my tyre went bang and took a massive lump of glass through it.
The boot patched it up beautifully and got me home and even kept me riding on the tyre until my wiggle delivered replacement arrived.

Great to get you home if you cut your tyre
Really handy to have in your saddle bag in case you cut your tyre.
Easy to fit (although they could be stickier) and do a great job of patching your tyre to get you home.

Classic 'if you need it, you REALLY need it'. On a 110 mile ride in atrocious conditions I had a tyre burst. Had carried one of these for years and suddenly I needed it. Got me the 10 miles to the next mechanical point to get a new tyre.
I'd say worth its weight in gold ... but it weighs next to nothing and could be the difference between you getting home or not.

Very effective for smaller cuts
I used one of these patches on a ~0.5cm cut in a 'Shwalbe One' folding tyre. The patch was easy to apply and once the tyre is inflated the tube keeps it perfectly in place. The tyre wall is almost perfectly in shape with the patch applied whilst the inner tube was bulging through the cut beforehand.

Hope I never actually need it
Bought these just to be on the safe side as I ride alone a lot and sometimes am a long way from home you always pack tube patches but I never thought about an actual tyre patch to be honest I hope I never have to use them but for the size and price its just peace of mind to have in in the saddle bag

I Wish .....
I wish I'd known that these existed before. Got stranded 40 miles in the middle of nowhere in France and had to be recovered after a tyre slash. Never again.

An Absolute Must Have
I've used Park's boot patch for years. When you flat due to a deep sidewall cut, this will allow you to keep riding and get home. You simply press it in place over the cut; it has adhesive backing.

handy, lightweight, critical emergency kit
if your tyre splits this should get you home - it's cheaper than another tyre and much lighter on the bike. the smaller size is, i think, better, as the bigger size doesn't always fit the very narrow tyre sizes and has to be folded to fit and that can cause punctures with rubbing on the inner tube.
17 May 2015
I haven't had to use this but it is a handy item to carry in my saddle bag for emergencies. A great piece of mind for a very small item!
12 May 2015
I bought this because I kept having punctures and I'd noticed a couple of holes in the tyre all the way through.
I patched it, put a new inner tube in, pumped it up and there it goes, puncture again.
Absolutely useless, I ended up buying new tyres.

This is a simple piece off kit which works extremely well .
Had a side wall blow out on rear tyre , applied the sticky side of the patch to the inside wall and rode for the next 2 weeks ( cheeky I know ) totalling 400 miles no slippage no negative ride effects eventually replaced tyre patch still holding strong

Saved my bacon today must purchase items
I purchased these a while ago after reading several reviews. Today was the day I was glad I had purchased them. After a long decent on dartmoor I ran over some very sharp rock that put a large hole in my tyre. Without this is would have been calling for help to get home. I was able to ride the 20k back home on relatively normal pressure.
Off to buy some more and a new tyre.

Something you never want to need.
Yes it's expensive, $5 for a bunch of stickers, but any serious roadie (MTB's can just carry a paper bill, like a fiver for the job) who has had a rip or gash in their tire knows there really are only two options, get a taxi or call a friend/family for a pickup. The Tyre boot patch won't fix things forever, but on more than one occasion I've been able to get home without paying a cent to any taxi and that makes these things pretty cheap.

Use to patch a 4mm cut on Tubular tire
Bought this to patch a 4mm cut on my front tubular tire with super glue, from the outside. The patch got wear out after 2 rides of about 150km, but leave some black rubber like that patch the cut. Still hold 120 psi well. Time will tell how long this will last.
