Rated 5 out of 5 by Freckly from Excellent value I was so pleased to get this quality tool and make a daunting job of fitting a new headset into a simple one. A bit of patience, followed the instructions and the job was done.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CoffeeScientist from Awful design - it doesn't work well at all I purchased this product elsewhere, but it's so badly designed I'm adding my review wherever possible... No matter how I tried, I couldn't get it to press in line - and once the central studding had wandered off kilter, it was impossible to get it coaxial again. I'm very disappointed with Park Tools, who usually make high quality products. Their premium version, which costs substantially more, has a stepped alignment system, ensuring concentricity of everything throughout the installation. This simply doesn't exist on this product, so how on Earth it is supposed to stay straight is a mystery to me. I'm actually annoyed with myself for not spotting this flaw before purchasing. Highly NOT recommended. I even dropped the b****y handle on a newly restored Raleigh 531c frame, causing (luckily) a small, barely noticeable ding. Not happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BD987 from Works, but nothing special I bought this because I needed something quickly in order to replace the BB90 bottom bracket bearings in my Trek Domane. It does the job OK. Having said that, it's a bit 'agricultural', a 'sledgehammer to crack a nut', and overpriced. Given that the bearings nearly press in by hand, with some time and effort I could have made something to do the same job for about £5.

Q & A

BB71

Is this tool suitable to install bb71 pressfit bottom bracket bearings.?
Asked by: Ian67
I used this to install a bb71 road bike pressfit bb with 105 crankset with mixed success. The first time I tried the bb didn't line up right and I crushed the bb tube on installation. The second time I lined up the bb extremely carefully by eye and it worked fine. I would heavily recommended buying the correct fitting adapter (TL-FC25 I think is correct, but check first) for the bb71 to complement this tool.

Size of press plates

PLease could you tell me the diameter of the head set press plate/metal washers. I need to know if the tool will press on the external outside edge of the 56mm cups or the internal area where the bearing sits so i need to know if the washers are at least 56mm

The thread of the HHP-3 is 5/8" (16mm) diameter (nominally 16mm) and will work to press the BMX bottom brackets." http://www.parktool.com/product/home-mechanic-bearing-cup-press-hhp-3

Bushings for headset

I have this tool bought from Wiggle a few years back. Also have a BB bearing removal tool bought from Wiggle. The removal tool comes with correct size bushings for pressing a PF BB86 standard bottom bracket. Can you please tell me where I might obtain the correct size bushings to press-fit my 1 1/8 headset cups ( int dia 41mm ) ?? Ta in advance.
Asked by: JimBike
Unfortunately we do not sell these parts you require. However this tool may prove more useful for installing headsets - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/x-tools-headset-press-workshop-tool/
