Description

Thanks to a 650b carbon rim you'll have more room for wider tyres, meaning comfort, compliance, and cornering performance is improved, and with more tyre between the rim and the road, the wheel diameter when the tyre is fitted is similar to a standard 700c wheel and road tyre combo, meaning you won't lose out on speed.

Tubeless Ready

Our new carbon fiber layup keeps the weight down, yet still maintains Prime's proven carbon rim durability. And, when paired with tubeless tyres, you have the option to run lower tyre pressures, to increase comfort and cornering grip and reduce the risk of pinch flats. 

Thru-axle Compatible

Paired with RD020 hubs and Pillar spokes to produce a stiff and responsive wheelset, they also come with removable end caps, making them compatibe with QR’s and thru-axles, including 12 and 15mm front thru-axles as well as 12x142mm rear thru-axles. A Prime XDR freehub is also available for those who want to run SRAM 10-42 cassettes.

Returns

We will happily refund any item purchased on Wiggle if returned to us within 365 days; excluding Wiggle gift vouchers, nutrition and customised products, except when faulty.

Please note: Bikes and other bulky items cannot be returned using our local returns service (where applicable). Please contact us and we can arrange to collect these from you using our discounted courier rates. There is a fee for all collections, except for faulty products.

Returned goods must be unused and supplied with their original packaging, unless the goods are faulty. Wiggle will pay the return postage costs for any faulty items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for money These wheels seem really well priced and really nicely made. They sealed with Conti X Kings with a track pump only and rear wheel stayed up for considerable time without sealant. Nicely done Wiggle. One minor gripe was the sealant tape was a bit "bubbly" so I had to undo and re-do a section, but luckily I had same prime tape to hand. Will repost with comments once I have done more miles on them. So far so good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value wheelset Decided to switch to 650b wheels on my gravel bike and wanted some decent wheels. Zipp 303 are 3 times the price of the Prime's so I thought I'd give them a go based on the various reviews - there's a good one on Road CC. Super wide internal rims mean the 47mm tyres sit nicely on the rim and don't bulge out too far. Set them up with Vittoria Terreno dry tyres and did the 1st ride on them last week. Overall I am impressed by the wheels to the point where I might buy a second pair. One small issue is the tubeless setup/compatibility which is essential for off road riding. I had used the Terreno's before on Fulcrum rims with no leakage but really struggled to get the Prime's sealed and retaining air. In the end I put another layer of tubeless tape on and banged in a load of sealant which has done the trick. Not a big issue but one to be aware of. Overall these are great wheels for the price and the best carbon option for 650b unless you want to spend a fortune on Zipp 303's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ignore These at Your Peril I ignored these at first as I'm a snob and I didn't want "Prime" branded wheels on my super-dooper gravel bike. I have a tendancy to be an idiot at times. Eventually decided to buy a pair just to take a look. Straight out-of-the-box you can tell these are excellent quality and well built. The rims are exceptional and compete for quality with rims I have that were more than three times the price. The J spokes are a welcome spec. The hubs are also excellent and feel as good as the DT Swiss 240 hubs that I tend to use. Coming with 12mm and 15mm front cups is a great benefit. The freehub is nice and quiet. Back to the rims...... assymetric, taped for tubeless, top quality moulding, wide... did I miss anything? These are not £600 wheels (£530 with my Platinum discount!) You can't lose - honest. The grey coloured "Prime" rim sticker was a nice suprise as I was expecting glarey white; unfortunately the Kansa stickers are white. I had the WTB Ventura tyres mounted and inflated tubeless within minutes. They have taken a little time to remain fully inflated overnight. I normally find after a few rides, tubeless seems to settle down. I'm not sure if this is the rims or the WTB tyres. I've only really used Schwalbe tubless before and never had an issue. Highly recommended. Oh - they ride really well too!! 650B on a gravel bike has to be the way forward?

Q & A

weight

can you confirm the weight for this version and the aluminium version are correct. They seem to be too close in weights to quantify paying fir the carbon set.

Just bought the carbon versions and the front is 719 grams and the rear is 859 grams so pretty close to the quoted weight of 1550 grams per pair
