Schwalbe Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro Evo LiteSkin 29er Folding MTB Tyre
Excellent for all winter riding
I ride my bike 35 minutes each way to work all year round in Central Saskatchewan. I put these tires on at the end of October and take the off usually mid April. My riding surface varies from several cm of fresh snow to wet sloping black ice. Temperature range is from +10C to -46C(rarely). These tires provide the greatest grip possible in a bicycle tire. I have had every other type of bicycle tire possible for winter riding and I have never fallen with these. The only thing about these tires(actually an older model) that I noticed a few years ago when we had a particularly bad winter is that if you keep the tire pressure too low when it is really cold out you may end up with splits in the sidewalls. It seemed to occur below -37 or -38C. I think that is pretty rare in most of the rest of the civilized world but if it does occur it might be a good idea to take a different bike for a few days. After one winter they are like new. They are NOISY and will add about 15 to 20% to your riding time.

Really good tires with an awesome grip on icy conditions

I've ridden these on snow and ice and they seem to grip on anything even stuff I would not walk over. I live in a ski resort, not sure I would buy them if I still lived in the UK but if you need to ride on ice and or hardback snow then ideal.

I haven't used thse tyres on ice or snow yet, but I've used studded tyres before and the grip they provide on icy surfaces is amazing. I expect excellent traction from these tyres for many seasons.
These tyres MUST be broken in on pavement for minimum 40km at around 35 psi. There are no instructions included with the tyre explaining this, but I spoke with a schwalbe employee and was told this is necessary to ensure the studs are properly seated.
