Description

This derailleur provides efficient, smooth and precise shifting across standard and wide ratio cassettes, providing exceptional shifting performance. 

Shimano Shadow RD Derailleur Technology

The addition of Shadow RD Road technology ensures that the derailleur sits low-profile against the bike chainstay. It features a single-tension design so that the derailleur will be stable and not hit the chainstay when in rough terrain conditions and it also restricts chain slap and rattling when riding; it provides silent and super-smooth performance.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 105 is amazing, wiggle, in this case not so much. 105 (the groupset of the people) is great, it almost goes without saying. However the RD I received from wiggle loose in a dirty bag, with instructions for a different derailleur, covered in greasy fingerprints, missing the B link and quite obviously removed from a bike NOT SO GREAT. As my mother used to say "I'm not angry, just disappointed"

will this take a 34t cassette ?

You will need the medium cage (GS) for this, it will run a 11-28T to 11-34T.

Yes, you will need the medium case (GS) rear mech. The short cage (SS) works up to 30T.

Can this be used with 105 10 speed shifters ? I want a rear mech capable of using with a 34T sprocket but don't want to change the whole lot.

Interchangeable

Can this 105 derailleur be used with 9 speed tiagra shifters. If not, what is the reason why Thanks

The Rear for the shift ratio for the Shimano 105 R7000 11 Speed Rear Derailleur is around 1.4. Only compatible with Shimano 11 speed road shifters. The shift ratio for your 9 speed Tiagra is 1.7, that is for 1 mm of cable pull/release, the derailleur is moved left/right by 1.7 mm. Therefore the two components are not compatible, they are also designed around different chain widths.

No, the pull ratio is different so the r7000 will not shift 10 speeds correctly, you need 105 5700 RD, Tiagra RD-4700 will work.

35t capacity. Which size?

I am between capacity with a 35t. (11-30 and 52-36).which derailleur would be best? Short or medium as they are both within range? Or it just doesn't matter? Thanks.

You need to find the difference in sprocket tooth count between the chain rings (if more than one and the biggest/smallest sprocket on the cassette. Now add these numbers together. e.g. 52-36 & 11-32 = total differential of 37 Now look at the specs of the derailleur it will show you the differential value, this must be equal or grater than the result above as it must be able to take up the slack in the chain. If it is "too big" then the bottom of the chain may bounce giving poor shifting and/or you may drop a chain. In the above example an RD-5800-GS (37) or RD-7000-GS (39) will work
