Customer Reviews

Shimano Altus M310 7/8 Speed Rear Derailleur is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by docwatts from solid replacement replaced a very old MTB rear derailleur, Should have done this years ago. Not going to win prizes for super sharp shifting or light weight but perfect for general MTB / commuter

Rated 5 out of 5 by MarkDePlanetX from Well made and good value Put this on my commuting bike as I often carry heavy loads. Long cage has the capacity I need for a large cassette. Good solid shifting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by NSTUD from Quality rear mech at a very reasonable price A like for like replacement on my hybrid. Cheaper to replace the whole rear derailleur than to try to source new jockey wheel, which have worn down. Slick and precise shifting from the moment I fitted this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Dazzadazzadazzadazza from Perfect for my project These were for and still are on an ebike setup where most rear gear sets are downgraded to 7 speed. This has been installed for over a year now with no faults. Perfect to replace those chap nasty derailleurs also.

Q & A

Compatibility with Shimano Claris?

Hi, I'm replacing a Shimano Claris derailleur, which is on my road bike. The groupset is all Shimano Claris & it's an 8 speed system (11-30t over 8 gears on the cassette & 50/34t at the front). Is this altus derailleur compatible, and if not which derailleur will be? Thanks
Asked by: Purkle
This rear derailleur won't be compatible with your Claris group set unfortunately as the pull ratio is different on your shifters.

Compatibility with Shimano Tourney

I am upgrading the freewheel on my 14-speed road bike, from 14-28T to a 13-34T. The bike has a Shimano Tourney drivetrain. However, my current rear derailleur (Tourney A070) only supports 11-28T. Will the Altus M310 7/8 Speed rear derailleur be a compatible replacement? If so, will I need to replace any other parts (e.g. gear shifters) to complete the upgrade or just the derailleur + freewheel (and a chain of course)?

WHAT ACCESSORIES GO WITH THIS

SGS WHAT DOES IT MEAN. ALSO MAX 34T AND TOTAL CAPACITY 43T.
Asked by: STEVEE76
SGS is Shimano's medium to long cage. For use with 28 to 34 tooth as your lowest gear. Determine Maximum Cassette Cog Difference by subtracting the number of teeth on the smallest cassette cog from the number of teeth on the largest cassette cog.
