Rated 1 out of 5 by from MAY NOT FIT THE BOSS ON YOUR FORK!!!!!!!!!!! NEEDED REPLACEMENT CANTILEVER BRAKES FOR MY DAWES GALAXY 2000. READ POSITIVE REVIEWS ON SITE REGARDING USE ON GALAXY AND SUITABLE REPLACEMENT FOR TEKTRO ORYX, SO I ORDERED THEM. WHEN I TRIED TO FIT THEM ON THE BOSS THEY WOULD NOT FIT UP TO THE FORK - THERE WAS A 2 TO 3 MM GAP BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND THE FORK. SO THE PIN WOULD ONLY JUST FIT IN THE SECURING HOLE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I LEARNT THAT SHIMANO USE A DIFFERENT BOSS TO OTHER MANUFACTURERS- IT HAS A SHORTER "SHOULDER" AT THE BACK. SO THESE SHIMANO BRAKES DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT ROOM TO TAKE ALL THE BOSS ON MY BIKE. SO CHECK THAT YOUR BIKE HAS SUITABLE BOSS FITTED BEFORE YOU ORDER THESE BRAKES. THESE BRAKES ARE NOT AN AUTOMATIC REPLACEMENT FOR ALL MANUFACTURER'S CANTILEVER BRAKES!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than Tektro Bought these to replace the Tektro brakes on my Cannondale CX bike that I commute on and use as a winter bike. Better stopping power than the Tektros, but the 105 calipers on my summer bike have more stopping power. Could be to do with the rubbish cable routing by Cannondale though, which increases friction in the cabling. In summary, good value - worth a punt.

Compatible with Altus levers?

I need to replace the Saccon brand cantilever brakes on my circa 2000 built bike. I have Simano Altus drivetrain including Altus shifters/brake levers. Are these cantilever brakes compatible with that set-up?

Could I use these to replace shimano br-550 brakes on my 2010 Ridgeback Panorama?

The adjusting pin has broken on my front r550 so I need a replacement, but it seems that they aren't made any more.They are canti brakes, but they use v-brake type pad inserts which is great. Would these brakes work as a direct replacement, bearing in mind that I have sti shifters/brakes on drop handlebars? If not , what would you recommend? Many thanks Cheers, John
