Great first time spd pedal. Easy to fit use and adjust
09 October 2014
Good robust pedal easy to use supplied with cleats

liked the Shimano PD-M530 MTB SPD Trail Pedals
Worked well off road, shoes clipped in & out with ease. Easy to install and adjust. My old pedals only had clips on one side, these are easier to use.

Good value SPD pedals
I bought these to replace the pedals that cam with the bike (yes I did get some SPDs on my Scott Genius). I looked at the more expensive versions but there seemed to be no obvious advantage and having used them for a while I agree. They are relatively light and I have no problems clipping in and out
04 October 2014
I use these on my road bike and love the look of them. They work well and I've never not been able to unclip in time but I've never had them unclip when I don't want them to either!

overall very good
Really good shoe for the cash but they come out a bit smalln so might be good to
go one size up. Velcro straps on top are a bit too short for my liking. Still great value.

These pedals come with cleats. They are everything you need in a pedal, and I am only still typing because wiggle said my first sentence was too short to submit.

Great Pedals and great price
They look good, work perfectly at a great price what more can you ask>

Cheap price, great value
Bought this along with dhb m10 mountain bike cycling shoe
(combo pack offer).
First I have to clarify that is my first ever clip-in pedal.
I installed this on a generic cheap road bike, which I will be using as my work horse.
It took me quite a while to understand the basic of clipping in.
But thanks to the useful instruction booklet given, I was able to install and clip in/out easily (set to the lowest level).
I tried this pair for a trip of 84 km.
However, maybe due to my own mistake for not tightening it properly (being afraid of damaging the thread due to over tightening), the pedal came off during riding, which was after around 60 km of the trip.
Overall, this pedal is so far so good for a beginner like me.
The price is good, the build is good. Very valuable.
If you don't care about weight/material (carbon and stuffs), and are budget conscious, I highly recommend to get these pair and enjoy!

These are my first SPD pedals and they are excellent. Had very good reviews and so purchased with XC30 shoes. Excellent levels of adjustment so ideal for a beginner like myself getting used to them. Good support with larger platform, adds confidence. Would highly recommend.

Great Pedals and easy to use
These Pedals were purchased for my 10 year old son for cyclocross, he found them easy to use and is very pleased with them!!! They may not be the lightest pedals available but are excellent for the price, especially as the cleats are included!

Lots of tough use and still work well as such excellent value

Usual Shimano quality
Use on cyclo-cross bike, never had a problem after two years of use.

this is the 2nd set of these pedals i have bought, i now have them on both my bikes, though these are mountain bike pedals i use them for both my road bikes and they work great, easy to clip in and out of, light enough and do the job well

Having been only used to clip in pedals , these were my first go at MTB or clip less pedals but I needed them for my commute to work due to the distance I had to walk after parking my bike .
Easy to get in to but I still find them harder to get out of , only a few weeks in so maybe that will change , all in there well made and do the job maybe its just me , as i change bikes for my after work run and there clip in pedals ...

I already had the basic Shimano Cleat pedals on my road bike and they are great. I occasionally struggle to keep my feet on the pedals on the MTB so hopefully I'll be brave enough to clip in. The pedals aren't as big as non-cleat MTB pedals but hopefully they are big enough to use unclipped as well.

Great pedal for the money.
Bought this pedal instead of the XT or XTR equivalent and am happy that I did. Made a huge saving on money and can only see a slight difference in weight compared to their more pricier cousins. Bearings nice and smooth and clips are ultra reliable. Alloy cages allow for bashing on rocks and roots, without any damage to the clip assembly.

Great pedals, good value
My first SPD pedals - seem really good quality for the price. Easy to fit and work perfectly with Shimano shoes I bought.

Excellent clipless pedal for first timers
These really are an excellent clipless pedal. For the price they are fantastic value. Easy to fit and adjust. If you're not sure if clipless is the way to go then these are a great way to start. The only very minor negative for me is they are a little on the heavy side.

I purchased these pedals to go with my new road bike, having only just started out in this game I wanted some pedals and shoes that would allow me to clip in but also not make me walk uncomfortably when off my bike etc. These pedals work great and are also great value. They also look the part and are very easy to fit! They also come with a set of cleats so you do not need to buy extra ones. Very happy overall with this purchase!

Great first SPD pedal
Bought this as my first foray into SPD pedals.
Very attractive pedal suiting the styling of my bike. Easily adjustable.
The fact it has SPD clips on both sides yet also has large platforms allowing a ride without shoes with cleats is a big bonus for a beginner like me

Excellent entry clipless pedal
First clipless pedal that I've used, easy to adjust the retention on the pedal and I also like the extra platform that allows for pedaling without being clipped in - especially handy when in slow moving traffic.
28 July 2014
Bought these over a year ago, I have not had a single issue with them at all. Clipping in is very easy and comes with an audible click. Prefer these to the egg beaters I have had in the past. A good pedal for someone going clippless for the first time.

Great colour and shape
I love that you can use these without cleated shoes if you just have to pop out. I rode back from borrowing a pedal spanner (around two miles) without cleated shoes and it was fine. They're pretty light (although they're still quite substantial) and they're a great colour.

Good Value For Money Pedal
Bought for my first attempt at going clipless. Can't fault them, well made, easily adjustable, as any Shimano product I've ever used irrespective of cost.
23 July 2014
Good choice if you have both spd shoes and trainers. The outer cage provides a stable platform for ordinary shoes/trainers and the internal spd mechanism is the usual high shimano quality

Great to use with SPDs or normal shoes
I have a pair of 545s on my MTB and was looking for something similar for my Carerra Vanquish road bike. Sadly on the second trip out I rear ended a van and the bike is trashed. The SPDs did their job and when I came to I was stood up and unclipped. Glad I set them up properly.

Great value pedal & easy to use
Bought these a while ago & can't really fault them for the money.
I use them on my road bike as I prefer mountain bike shoes, it's just easier to walk when off the bike & I don't need to keep a pair of shoes handy. I've had no issues cliping in or out & feel secure once clipped in. There's also the added advantage that they are double sided & they can, at a push, still be used if I nipped out without cleated shoes.
They also seem to be reasonably robust as they've already outlasted my previous Crank Candy pedals
I couldn't really find any cons

Does the job at an affordable price
couldn't see the need to spend more on SPD pedals when these do the job nicely.
Easy to fit though I would advise applying a little grease to the thread before fitting to make removable easier.
09 July 2014
Quality and good value
Solid pedal, easy to use with normal shoes. Great price compared to NZ prices
01 July 2014
They should be compatible with the bike as they're just standard screws. I use them on my road bike because I don't want super small pedals as these larger ones means I can nip out in my trainers etc. If the shoes are an SPD cleat (check description) then yes.

The pedal is double sided SPD, ie you can clip in both sides. There is not a 'flat side' for use with ordinary shoes. If your shoes have a decent thickness of sole you can ride with standard shoes due to the slightly larger pedal area, but the clips do not retract so there is a 'lump' and I would not recommend for any distance. If you want the option of both SPD and flat try something like the Shimano M324 or one with retractable clips.

These pedals clip on both sides but you could ride for a short distance without clipping, that was why I fitted a pair to my Road bike as well for commuting in heavy traffic instead of clipping in and out all the time I can pedal on them unclipped plus being able to clip on both sides make them a breeze to use.
