Great value for money
I Bought these brake levers for a “winter hack” I was putting together, to minimise cost in the event of a “detachment” from the bike. For the money these are very good levers and they come supplied with cables. They are tight to the bars when clamped and being handed, the cables run neatly on the inside of the handlebars ready for taping over. The levers have a nice smooth action which is proportional to the applied pressure. The hoods maybe a little narrow for some people’s liking, but with winter gloves on there is probably an advantage in them being slightly narrower as they “feel” about right. These are at the bottom end of the hierarchy in the equipment order, but should not be underestimated if you’re looking for good value and function.

Great!
They are quite narrow, but overall they do a great job. Plus they come with cables.

A nice standard set of breaks
Recently fitted to an overhaul project. Good production value; no fuss; do exactly what intended. Would recommend to anyone as a simple set of breaks that do the job.

Which way does the cable exit?
does the cable exit these straight up as in old school road bikes or flush against the bar so you can use cross top levers
Asked by: dasy2k1
These are "aero" levers. The cables exit under the hoods and your bar tape so you should be able to use cross-top levers with them.

Are these compatible with Shimano 105 5800 Brake Calipers?
On the page for the calipers it says: Must be used in conjunction with ST-5800, ST-6800 or ST-9000 STIs for correct leverage ratio.
Would there be any issues with pairing these R400 leavers with the Shimano 105 5800 Brake Calipers?

is this a 9 speed shifter?
Asked by: bigjos
No, they are brake levers only. You need STI levers which incorporate shifters too.

Does this brake lever work with v brakes as on a merida speeder T5.
Asked by: antonyfromoz
It may well do with an adaptor, try searching for 'Travel Agent brake adaptor' However, a better option would be to get levers designed to work with V-brakes, look for DiaComp 287V levers.
