Description

The new Di2 Wireless unit allows wire free communication between your shifters and a compatible smart phone or tablet. This means you no longer need to connect your bike to the PCE1 interface to carry out tasks such as updating the system firmware or to customise things such as shifting speed and shifts per click.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Addition to Di2 but a Bit Pricey Where you locate this will depend on how your Di2 system is wired. I was able to access the junction box near my bottom bracket and it was really easy to install using the Shimano plug tool. Simply unplug one cable and plug It in the Bluetooth unit (note that you’ll need to buy a short Di2 cable to then connect back into the junction box.) Using the Shimano app On your phone or PC you can then configure the unit and use it to change many a setting. I also linked it to my Garmin unit so I can change the screens from the “secret” buttons on the hoods. Overall, a nice addition to the Di2 system and good pricing from Wiggle albeit still expensive hence the 4 stars rather than 5! I just think this should be included as part of the group set from the off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overpriced!! A great unit and easy to fit if you carefully follow the instructions and YouTube videos. However it is very expensive for what it is and really should be included in the Di2 groupset

But it works as expected: provides feedback to Garmin Edge computer and allows use of the hood buttons. (Some people refer to them as secret but I'm sure they aren't intended to be!)

Is this required for new ultegra r8050?

Hi is this still required for the new ultegra and dura ace groupsets or is this already built into the systems now?

Is this the only thing required to connect Di2 to A Garmin 1030?

There is information on the net suggesting you need a wireless unit (this?), mounting, battery, and a cable (all sold separately) to connect to a Garmin device. Is that true? Or can I just buy this and (assuming the software doesn't brick my Di2) connect successfully to my Garmin 1030 and phone?

Yes that is correct. The EW-WU111 unit is the smaller unit of the two available and has a different cable input and output. This unit is the smaller and more discrete. This will allow you to connect your Garmin to your Groupset.

One of the question relates to the cable not being included. So does one need to buy an EW-SD50 electric wire as well? if 'yes' which length?
