Perfect choice, easy to fit and I managed to index the gears for the fist time. I have only been riding for 5 months so this was all a learning curve for me. I strongly recommend this item

Compatible with 8 speed shifters/cassette?

Hi there I need to change my old sora 8 speed derailleur (HD-3400) to increase capacity, so I can use a bigger large sprocket. Will this work for an 8 speed set up please?

Currently have a Claris GS, 8 speed setup 11-32, 50-34t - is this R3000 a compatible?

Which size to use

I'm not sure which size to get? It's to replace what I believe is a 2014 SORA 3500 9 speed running 11-28t rear cassette and 50/34t front. Current one has about 70mm distance between the jockey wheel centres. Mech hanger is bent so I may as well replace the whole thing. I'm thinking to go for medium rather than short, and some reviews say medium gives s smoother gear change? Thanks.

If you are running 11-28T cassette the short cage would be enough for you. If you're planning to go above 28T you'll need the medium cage. I believe the smoothness depends on the cassette ratio - a larger range of sprockets means that there can sometimes be a jump of a few teeth between each sprocket, which can be less smooth when changing gear. Hence, if you don't actually need the large range, a smaller range would give you a smoother ride.

Replacement for Tiagra 9 speed RD4500 rear mech

Hello, Can you advise if this Sora R3000 ) speed mech will replace a damaged Tiagra 9 speed RD4500 rear mech. The existing gear lever assembly is SL - R440/441 In other word is the cable pull ratio the same. Regards Colin Sargeant

Replacement for Tiagra triple groupset

I am looking to replace a worn out Tiagra rear mech RD-4500 9 speed with this one and would like to know if it is compatible. The triple chain ring is a 50/39/30 and the cassette is a 11-28. If it is compatible would I need the short or medium length cage ? Many thanks. Paul
