Finished off in the dark grey anodised paintwork, the rear brake is lightweight, durable and has a toe-in adjustable brake shoes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple but Effective Good build quality, easy to fit and usual shimano performance. Easy to adjust and set up if your used to shimano road brakes. 4 stars as while I understand is Tiagra- certain features which are used for adjustment (tension cable adjustment) are poor in quality compared to my shimano 105 5600 from 9 years ago which is disappointing. Also 4 stars as the brakes blocks which come with the set are not great and I would recommend upgrading but are cheap enough to do exactly that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Upgrade over non-branded I have a 5 year old Trek Domane, which now serves as my winter bike. The groupset is tiagra, but with unbranded caliper brakes. These were never brilliant, but have deteriorated despite on-going maintenance. I have also got used to 105 and ultegra brakes in summer, so the winter bike's brakes had become quite unerving! I therefore decided to upgrade to tiagra brakes. The verdict? Significant improvement, less friction, lower lever force needed, and more progressive braking. Entirely acceptable, but still well short of 105 or ultegra.

Are the Tiagra BR4700 calipers compatible with Claris ST2400 levers?

Shimano 6500 shifters

Will these work with utlegra 6500 shifters , I’ve read that slt might not be safe with older shifters

SLR brake levers have a different actuation ratio. For optimum performance it is recommended to use an SLR shifter with this caliper.

Will these open wide enough to fit 28 or 32mm tyres?

We would advise that the maximum tyre size would be 28mm for these calipers. A 32mm tyre would be a tight fit.

Are these compatible with ST-4500 shifters?

I'm looking at upgrading the generic calipers on my Trek Alpha 1.5, 2011 model which has Tiagra ST-4500 shifters. Just wondering if these shifters with these calipers will perform ok? I've done some googling and found the newer ST-4600 levers are compatible but can't find much on the older spec I've got.
