Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to fault Swapped to this front derailleur from an FD-R6800 one that got damaged in a tumble. Slightly different method of setting this up than I'm used to because of the different way the cable routes into the derailleur, but as long as you follow the instructions properly it's pretty easy. The result is a much more compact unit without the big lever arm of the old one, and perfect shifting every time.

Q & A

Compatible with 6800 lever?

Can the R8000 front derailleur be used with the 6800 shifter? The 6800 derailleur's long arm is coming awfully close to the tire on my CX bike!

Trimming

One thing frustraring about Ultegra 6800 is that trimmimg of the front deuraillier is required. Does this front deuraillier still require trimming depending on where the chain is on the block?

I can confirm this will still require trimming to avoid chain rub.

Will this component work with my 10 speed Ultegra 6700?

The Shimano Ultegra FD-R8000 is only designed to be used with a 11 speed and cannot be used with a 10 speed system.

Is this compatible with shimano 5800 (11spd 105)? If it matters I am running a cannondale si crank with spider ring.

What's the difference between braze on and clamp on, does a braze just bolt onto the clamp. Looking to fit onto my daughters Liv Envie. Thanks

A braze on option will bolt directly to the frame, if you don't have the mounting points then you will require band on.
