Easy to fit, quality performance
This Shimano brake caliper was easy to fit and bleed. It also performs well since installing so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Design fault in these disc brake callipers
I had to order a brand new set of callipers as the screw that holds the brake pads in location had somehow seized on both front & rear brakes of my bike. When trying loosen the screw the screwdriver slot just started to break up. After a discussion at my LBS I was told that this seems to be a common problem on the Shimano Ultegra disc brake set up with the local mechanics labelling it as a design fault. Hence I had to replace callipers just to change out the disc pads ... how annoying and expensive. My LBS was unable to source a supply of these callipers.
Anyway after much searching around I found Wiggle to offer the best off-the-shelf price on the rear brake & they price matched the front. Delivery service first class as usual

Great
A great disc brake that functions really well, easy to set up and bleed. No disc rub and stops me very quickly. A lot cheaper than DuraAce!

What makes this a rear brake vs a front brake?
Asked by: flickwg2
Front and rear disc brake calipers are not mounted in the same position. Mounts are specific to the frame or fork.

Is this compatible with the previous version of Ultegra lever (St-RT685) and hose (BH59)?
Hi I have a fault with existing front post mount caliper (BR-RS785). Replacements seem rare so looking for new (BR-R8070 F) but want to be sure it can plug into existing hose? Also I gather I'll need a post to flat adapter (SM-MA-R140P/D), is that correct? Thanks
Asked by: Cam1966
Yes this will be compatible. You will need a post to flat adapter if your frame has post mounts.

If the caliper comes without the hose what is the difference between the 3 options?
I have checked this caliper everywhere and there is just one type but you offer 3 different options and it seems that 2 of them come with the hose but you answered another question saying that it comes without a hose, I am confused!
thanks
Andres

We can confirm the drop down options show the hose length, one at 600m the other at 800mm
We hope this helps.

Which is the correct hose BH59 or BH90 to pair these with ST-R785 levers please?
Asked by: TheHighlander
The BH-90 hose would be the correct hose for these.

Can this directly replace my avid BB5 mechanical brake?
I have a cyclo-cross bike with ultegra shifters but avid BB5 disc brakes. Can I buy just the front and rear calipers here and replace the bb5s?
Asked by: Jimblobby
These are hydraulic, you would also need to change the levers and cables would need to be replaced with hydraulic hose.
