Rated 4 out of 5 by MRKNUTS from Quality mudguards, but a little fiddly to set-up! The SKS Chromoplastic guards feel like a high quality product straight out of the box, and on the bike are sturdy, even when riding gravel trails. They do an excellent job of keeping roadspray and mud down, as you would hope. There is some minor sizing issues, and having bought the wider size to accommodate 45mm gravel tyres, there wasn't really enough clearance, and so I have had to downsize my tyres. Installing the guards is fiddly, with not the most clear instructions and the fact that the stays need cutting and bending to position the guard correctly. Also, the eyelettes on my frame go into the frame rather than through, so I have had to drill holes through the plastic to bolt them on, but this wasn't too tricky. A person, who is less technical might struggle to get these installed! Otherwise, very happy with the guards, long may I have a dry bottom!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ruddyeck from Great product, fits my ribble E bike perfectly wel Great product, could do with a few more bracket (plastic) adaptors for fastening under front forks and were it's a long way from the bottom bracket because your bike hasn't got the usual cross brace.

Q & A

I have a cannondale road bike with 700x28c tyres. Do I need a 35mm or 45mm mudguard?

Asked by: Jwatkins
I'd go for the 35's. I just put a set on 700x 28's and went for the 35/38 road set, and they fit fine with good clearance.

Does the rear mudguard have a reflector or reflector mount?

I noticed on the picture that loads when you click on the listed picture for the SKS chromoplastic mudguards that it shoes a pair with the rear having what appears to be an integral reflector. Want to know if that is accurate. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/images/sks-chromo-mudguards-zoom.jpg
Asked by: Runjikol
The set I bought from Wiggle this month does have the reflector on the rear mudguard.

Best size for 700x32

Hi I have a Cannondale quick 4 riding on Kenda Kwick Trax / 700x32c tyres. This seems to fall between 2 mudguard size, narrow 20-28 or Wide 35-38. Which one would be best. Thanks
Asked by: Richie64
I have these running over 700x23 tyres and there is good coverage of the tyre with the guard - although to clear the tyre surface under the brake calipers (normal road rim block type) I have had to remove the supplied brackets and used cable ties and drilled holes through the guards to accomodate. I would therefore suggest that to clear your 700x32 you would probably require the larger size :-)

Will this Chromoplastic type mudguard fit a Charge Grater 2013? If so what is the best size please?

Asked by: Norton750
Yes - just fitted a set to my new Grater. I went for the "Wide" 35-38mm option and they seem to fit well and the white matches the paint perfectly, everyone says they look like they came with the bike. It's worth noting for the rear guard there is a clippy bit that is supposed to attach to a hole in the frame (facing rearwards) where there is a cross-support between the struts which hold the back wheel. On the Grater there isn't a cross-support there and there is a fixing hole but it is facing down towards the floor so I had to fix the clippy bit to that then bend it in the middle by 90 degrees before sliding the mudguard through. Hope that makes sense when you see it!

Fitting to 2010 Ridgeback Velocity on 700c x 37 wheels/tyres

Fitting a set of 45 mm road guards to my new RB Velocity I find the front is OK, at least once the stays have been cut down, but the rear willl not fit the seat stay bridge. The problem is that the hole drilled in the bridge is vertical and not horizontal. This seems so odd that at first I thought it was a fault with the frame but apparently "some are like that" and I need to bolt directly through the mudguard and not use the sliding L bracket. Are there any other mudguards out there that use this method of fitting?
Asked by: OldSpindlyLegs
I fitted these mudgaurds to an On-One Pompino that has a vertical threaded hole at the back. I drilled the mudguard and fixed it with a bolt and a couple of 1/2 inch tap washers between the guard and frame to get it a bit closer to the tyre. Its been like thay since last autumn and works briliantly.

What Wiggle size corresponds to a P45?

The SKS website lists sizes in the following way: P45 = 700x28-37 P50 = 700x38-45 So I've established a P45 is probably best considering I use 700cc tyres in 28-35 sizes. But looking at this site, I can't tell which one is the P45 as Wiggle have them listed as Narrow, Wide and Hybrid. Is wide the P45, is hybrid the P50?!?? Can someone please clarify the sizing here so I can make sure I order the correct one!!!
Asked by: Chumba
I ordered the 700x35-38 - Wide set, and, as expected, received the P45 in SKS own language.

Does this set come with the reflector on the rear, and flap on the front?

Does this set of guards from Wiggle come with the reflector on the rear guard, and the flap on the front guard?
Asked by: RichP621
There is a small rear reflector already attached, there is a rubber cowl on the front but it is not very flexible..
