Poor instructions and over priced for what it is
The instructions are not fit-for-purpose and it is fiddly to set the gun up and install the grease cartridge. For the money it should be ready to work straight out the box. When attempting to screw the trigger head on, the cartridge lock failed and almost all the grease came out of the top and onto the floor. Useless!

great product but fiddly to use, grease cartridge rather large, you don't need to use much at anyone time, if left in the gun grease leaks out even with the pump arm locked off

Renovate your old speedplays
Whilst re greasing your speedplay pedals will always be a bit messy this tool helps. It pumps the grease in at just the right amount.

Simple to use. With this, you are more likely to keep speedplay pedals maintained

easy to use and set up
not sure why there seem to be lots of people who've struggled with setting this up or using...seemed very straightforward to me and I struggle adjusting my brakes so I'm no mechanic : makes it easy to grease the pedals - you've spent a lot on them..look after them

Bought this as tried to use another gun with various needles and none pushed the grease through sufficiently well. It works as it should.

Don't buy use a plastic syringe instead
Look on YouTube you can achieve regressing your pedals using grease and small plastic syringe

Keep those pedals from seizing!
I had my fingers burnt and a set of pedals seized as I hadn't kept them full of grease.
Instead of popping to my LBS to get them done, I thought I'd buy this to do it myself.
Great llittle product - once you've worked out how to put the grease in!

Wish I'd bought one earlier
good price from Wriggle for gun and grease, just wish I had bought earlier as pedals really needed new grease. operation fairly straight forward, once got the knack of everything. have a look underneath to see how plunger locks when pulled back and then to one side. also once grease capsule inserted and top screwed on plunger is then gently pushed all the way up before releasing air and pumping grease. also once plastic protective tube fro nozzle is off and inserted into grease port on pedal press against pedal firmly so grease does not push back and push off the dust cap, I had to put dust cap back in place and then try again to get grease pushing through the pedal. but now I know how it's a ten minute job at most and so easy to keep pedals in good condition. if you haven't, then go and buy grease & gun!

Bought this to service my X2 pedals. I found it expensive and cumbersome. Thought it might contain the grease used by Speedplay when manufacturing the pedal but it does not appear so. Should have stuck with my Exus grease gun. Smaller, cheaper, easier and quicker.

Good piece of kit
Great if you ride Speedplay pedals, easy to use once you have installed grease canister. Lost 80% of the grease when plunger released from lock position. Easy way to keep expensive pedals in good running order and far cheaper than replacing pedals.

Speedplay Grease Gun
Essential purchase to everyone who has Speedplay pedals. Don't forget to regularly grease the bearings or else the bearing can dry out prematurely
14 January 2015
A must have
I bought this when I got the pedals as we didn't have a gun at home, this is small enough to stash in a cupboard and just works needed, a must have really if you have bought into the speedplay system

Didn't work at first
Well made, nice and solid. A shame it didn't work at first - the hole behind the ball valve in the nozzle was gummed up with solid goo which stopped grease reaching the nozzle. Had to dismantle it to find out what was wrong. It was ok after the blockage was cleared.

Well made grease gun
The grease gun is well made and works well on my speed plays.....as it should. However you need to pull back the spring loaded plunger and lock out after use as if you don't it leaks a lot which my car grease gun does not. I brought it on an offer, is it worth the full price? Possibly not but much better than the cheapo grease guns you can get.

Hate to have to need it, but it's awesome.
So I tried to be frugal and use a combination of syringes and marine grease to service my pedals. 45 min later, with sore fingers I thought I'd done the job. A couple of weeks later it became clear this wasn't the case. Bit the bullet and purchased the grease gun. What a pleasure.
That being said I hate myself for having to spend what I did to get a branded grease gun. First world problems.

Expensive for a grease Gun
Expensive but you need one if you do loads of miles on your bike
25 September 2014
Huge, heavy complete overkill
Can't understand why this is the only grease gun wiggle offer on their site. It's far too heavy duty for a occasional bike mechanic and is more suited to a workshop. Even if you've got speedplay pedals I don't know why such a big, heavy thing like this is required, surely some kind of nozzle adapter you can fit to any gun would be better.

I've seen some people greasing Speedplay pedals using a syringe, but WTF! Good pedals need a good grease gun and there I shall leave it.
07 August 2014
Does the job
The grease gun is solidly built and does a good job.
06 August 2014
Does the job but is expensive.
What can you say, its a small grease gun with a pointed end for speedplay pedals. It does the job so cant complain really other than its expensive for what it is, but then again speedplay pedals are exactly cheap themselves.

Perfect for greasing Speedplay pedals
Nozzle fits over grease port on pedal well so no leakage. The gun is top quality while the grease included is marine grade so you can be assured that it will last through many wet rides and washes. I would have given 5 stars but price is on the high side.

Bought this to grease my Speedplay Zero pedals, as recommended by the Speedplay website.
Cheapest one I could find was on Wiggle, and although still expensive it was worth the money.
Very robust and easy to use-it comes with two grease nipples of different lengths as well asa tube of grease.
04 June 2014
Could have purchased a standard grease gun much cheaper it's just the nozzle that was required.

Excellent, but expensive
Well, after letting a pair a Speedplay Zeros, die a greaseless death, I decided to get myself tooled up to ensure that the needle bearings remain intact on the replacement pedals.
I reluctantly went with the Speedplay grease gun, I know I could have opted for a cheaper one but given the cost of replacing the pedals.
Basically it's built like a train. much better than the cheaper alternatives from finish line and the like. the grease is a little weird. but it does the trick. easy to pump and the nozzle fits through the grease port neatly. if you have Speedplay pedals I would definitely recommend this grease gun.

Waste of money
I bought the Speedplay grease gun to service my Speedplay Zero pedals. I wish I'd saved my money! The gun itself looks great but is a bit of overkill. The grease is nothing more than silicon grease, no magic ingredients or anything. I followed the instructions to load the grease into the gun but it hardly worked at all. Even unscrewing the nozzle to bleed air out didn't help the gun work. I got minimal amounts of grease out of it and most of the time it never came out. For 40 quid I expect better and I would recommend just buying a regular grease gun for 10 quid and a tube of silicon grease

Excessive, but necessary
This grease gun is specifically for greasing Speedplay pedals. It need not be as bulky, or expensive, but does the job. I agree with other reviewers that other components can be greased too, but if you already have a grease gun for that then this is a necessary overkill to the toolbox.
On following the instructions I got the grease cartridge in easily, greased two pairs of pedals (X1 & Frogs) easily, but on return to the cupboard a week later it had leaked grease from 2 places. For an item of this price this is unacceptable. If an air block from first use was still present then I can see how this happened, but otherwise simply not good enough for the money!
I recommend it because Speedplay pedals are good kit and with this are easy to keep in tip top condition. I think the price is ridiculous for the quality. It's only a grease gun!!

It's a grease gun
I would recommend to read the instructions, I inserted the cartridge from the spring end and it took ages to fit.

The best tool for the job
After struggling with a cheaper alternative to service my two sets of speedplay pedals, I decided to buy this product. Although fairly expensive, it does do the job admirably and I'm happy I bought it. It is substantially built and powerful. If you have speedplay pedals, this is the bit of kit for you (in my opinion of course).
01 August 2013
I ordered the speedplay grease due to failed attempts to grease my speedplay pedals using other methods.on receiving the gun I was struck how small it was which is ok for storage but also not providing a great deal of grease of which some had leaked out in the packaging ,however that said it was very easy to use and the grease is top quality.overall expensive but well made,i would recommend to others.
