Description

The Yaw™ rotating front derailleur cage was just one more elegant solution to a problem that plagued drivetrains for decades. Instead of multiple shifts using trim, with confusing microshifts, the SRAM Force 22 Yaw™ Front Derailleur actually rotates to maintain a consistent angular relationship with the chain. As a result, shifts feel more direct, more precise, system that works as one with the chain, cransket and chainrings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fastflo from New derailleur The old Rival derailleur went after 10000 miles. Bought this and fitted on to my existing band works a treat. All 22 gears now selecting with no rubbing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jamster76 from A good upgrade over SRAM Apex and good value. I don't normally write reviews, but I thought that my experience might be useful for others as I have used this to replace a SRAM Apex 20 speed from derailleur. This is not a SRAM supported combination, but it's worked really well for me. My previous SRAM Apex derailleur didn't always shift cleanly and suffered from chain rub on 3 cross-over gears. It was also a pain to adjust. In comparison, the Force 22 derailleur is so much better. It shifts better and I no longer have any chain rub on any gear combinations, which has effectively given me 3 more usable gears. The installation was easy, much easier than adjusting my old derailleur. I did notice that the derailleur sits a bit higher above the large chain ring, than my old derailleur did. There's probably about 3-4 mm of clearance, whilst ideally you only want around 2mm. I think that this is because the chain rings with the force groupset are bigger than those on Apex (53 teeth versus 50 teeth). However it's not been a problem.

Q & A

My sram front derailleur is clamp on but I can't find any anywhere, would this work with a clamp?

Asked by: Iwanscarlets
all derailler clamps work with all front derailleurs of all brands. Make sure you purchase the clamp on band of the correct diameter.

Is this braze on?

Is this derailleur braze on? It is not clear from the description whether it is or not. Thanks
Asked by: Cptlik
Thanks for the answer. Harry. It wasn't immediately obvious to me. The product titles on wiggle are inconsistent, sometimes it might say "braze on" on the title on the product Search page and sometimes not.

Compatible with.....

My discounted Argon18 Krypton X disk frameset with some sort of two bolt connector for front derailleur and I'll be using FSA 30 cranks and SRAM Force 22 levers!!
Asked by: SatoF12002
This is a braze on derailleur, this will only be suitable for a braze on compatible frame. If you need a band on you'd need to combine this with a band on adapter.

Compatible with...

Argon18 Krypton X disk frameset and FSA 30 adventure cranks and SRAM Force 42 cassette and long rear derailuer?
Asked by: SatoF12002
The Force 22 front mech has been designed to pair with the Sram 22 Chainset/X Glide R chainrings, and Sram 22 shifters. Due to the pull and Yaw settings we cannot advise this being compatible with the FSA chainset.

Will the SRAM Force 22 front derailleur operate with an Ultegra 6800 lever?

Could I get the benefits of the Force 22 front derailleur whilst still using my Shimano Ultegra 6800 L/H lever? I would retain the 11spd STI R/H lever and Shimano rear cassette. Thank you.
Asked by: JohnThunder
I would advise that if you have shimano components not to mix and match with other components as there may be issues with compatibility.
